One spammer suspended, and four IP blocks are now prohibited from signups (as there's probably not too many Okies whose preferred means of ingress are a datacenter in Seattle). H/T transfem.social for the report.
@ChloeCat@kitsunes.club pls accept my follow request i try very hard :snapdogdance:

Friendly reminder to report content to your local fedi admins even if it's from a remote instance. While we do federate with other instances we also remote suspend accounts that violate our rules (especially when it comes to transphobia). We can also forward reports to remote instances so that they're aware of it.
Happy birthday to one of our administrators @hazelnoot@enby.life
As a friendly reminder please make sure to content warn any politics. We know today is a major day in US politics and that everyone wants to talk about it. You are free to do so on transfem.social but only if you appropriately content warn it. Not everyone is in the United States, and not everyone has the mental capacity to read what could be potentially distressing news.

Hello transfem.social, Certain parts of the api have been 403'd in haproxy to prevent the ongoing dos. If you notice that certain menus fail to load this is why! We will be working with sharkey to address this issue.
Important Information for TransFem.Social Members:
Hi friends - I need to share some rather unfortunate news with you today: our administration team has decided to take action against woem.men.
As part of a collection of administrators and instances who agree on suspending woem.men, we will be suspending woem.men in 14 days.
This will include:
- KitsuClub
- KitsuGay
- Transfem.social
- Catboy Agency
- Enby.Life
- Eepy.moe
- fedi.rrr.sh
We have decided to suspend woem.men as we find that they are no longer able to effectively maintain a safe environment for users. Here is a compilation of some of the issues that are publicly facing and available:
- The administration has repeatedly failed to remove groomers from their mixed-age platform, endangering the safety of their users. Multiple victims have come forward about abusive, grooming behavior from multiple users on the platform who have, and some who continue to remain on the platform. The administration has also invited an abuser to a discord server for the intentions of 'watching over' that individual, fully aware that the individual is in a relationship with a minor. Considering that it is not the Administration's job to 'watch over' grooming and pedophilic behavior, it is reasonable to say that instead of making a report about the behavior to authorities, the administrator acted recklessly and endangered minors.
- There are multiple NSFW content creators on woem.men, which are housed beside minors, and has even created multiple invitations for minors to continue joining woem.men regardless of age - and have even lowered the age limit from 16 to 13 after allegations came out for the point above. She continues to enforce that her server is more adult-friendly than minor friendly with the "have you tried ashten milk? :3" loading message.
- The administration has decided to create a Matrix server, despite the software being notorious for poor moderation tools and being informed of aforementioned issues by several instance administrators. Combined with the above two points, this only further endangers minors on their platform while further dividing the administration’s load between several platforms.
- The administration created an insensitive "meta memes" account that did not ask for sides of the story, instead posting only highly critical memes for cheap shots at instances and instance administrators, removing nuance from ongoing meta and reductively covering issues while also inflaming and inciting meta, harming other instances. In addition, the administration directly inflames otherwise smaller interpersonal situations and actively blows them far out of proportion, bullying smaller users as a result, whether directly or indirectly by enabling other users to do so.
- The administration created a highly insensitive parody account that violates section 3 of their own rules and policies. The content being posted was derogatory, sexist, and overall shocking, gross conduct. The instances who confronted the administration over this account received a prepared statement that does not address the concerns they had - rather blew past them. The administration of those instances then made the suspension of that account public as it had violated their rules.
- The administration has made multiple posts undermining the trust and confidence of instances for cheap shots, calling out instances who were in the US who "didn't care about your data", even though multiple instances have a working GDPR statement and intend to follow it, for example.
- The administration has made previous statements that they will improve when previous issues surrounding them cropped up. No such efforts to improve have been observed, despite numerous reassuring statements that it will happen.
How do I keep in touch with my friends on my server?
During the 14 days, we will keep the doors open to allow members of woem.men to transfer to other servers, and vice versa. Afterwards, the servers mentioned above will no longer allow for any communication from woem.men, which means you will need to register with another instance. If you are looking to keep in touch with your friends from woem.men, then it's imperative in the next 14 days to transition to a new server - or to ask your friends to migrate!
I apologize for this news. I know a lot of people are friends between our servers. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in contact with us.

@ep@booping.synth.download There's some stuff circling around about @ trans_rescue@mastodon.social potentially being a front for human trafficking. No idea how credible the sources are hence the vague psa in regards to vetting and verifying the authenticity of resources.
Hey friends, in light of a recent situation we'd like to take a second to talk to everyone about a couple of things. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. I know that everyone is going through a rough time right now with how hostile the world is (and how things seem pretty dire). It is important that you vet your resources properly. This applies to things like support groups, charity organizations, diy hrt and so much more. Do not take everything for face value, do some research on the organization. It is an unfortunate fact of life that people prey on those who are desperate for an escape. This is something that's important to keep in mind especially when it comes to trans resources in particular.
Users of this instance, I have a question. This is nothing official by any means but I am curious to how many of you actually enjoy achievements. (I will attach a poll in a defed post under this). I think that they're toxic, honestly. I do not like the way that it promotes things like posting a lot. There is an entire achievement line dedicated to just how many posts you make. I think that's really unhealthy but it's just the tip of the iceberg. I know this is probably taking something that was meant to be lighthearted and fun, putting a cynical take on it but I came to fedi to avoid these sort of behavior. I don't think it should be encouraged to log into the site every day for some achievement. I don't think you should be encouraged to enter a popularity contest on followers.
I want to emphasize that while these are light hearted, and they're not meant to be taken seriously... that assumes people see them as so. I know a variety of people on here who seek validation and who absolutely might become obsessed with chasing these sort of unhealthy achievements. I am not judging those individuals but I would like this space to be inclusive of everyone and I really do not want to worsen the mental health of people. So I ask, how many of you would care if I disabled them for the instance? I am not planning on doing so right now but depending on the outcome of the poll (it will be a separate reply) I might bring it up with the rest of administration.
Transfem.social is going to be defederating from village.elrant.team in the upcoming days. We are doing this in regards to a concerning pattern of behavior displayed by the head administrator of village.elrant.team Iris. After reading statements from multiple people involved, from the original fediblock to Iris' apology, we felt no reassurance that the behavior was a one off incident or that this behavior shows any sign of stopping.

Dear Transfem.social, we are defederating from social.nano.lgbt in the upcoming days.
We have a lot of smaller instances that learn of new instances through our federation traffic. To protect both our community and the communities around us we have are going to defederate from social.nano.lgbt due to admin misconduct. We did not take this decision lightly. We considered the potential harm posed to minors and deemed it too high. We also did not find the "explanation/apology" to be adequate as we felt it shifted the blame from the system to a specific headmate. We at transfem.social believe in "System Responsibility" in which the system is responsible for self governance, and the actions of any individual member.
