I talked about "witch hunts" a lot but this in my brain is tangled with a culture of behaviour around that among queer people here, such as but not limited to: being nice in dms while screenshotting the dms and posting it elsewhere, repeatedly being really vile and horrible and using mental illness to excuse it, other stuff I can't think of rn

Do better, I am begging you! Everyone on fedi deserves a better culture than whatever is going on here.

Came back to just tweak a setting and write a small addendum.

But if all you're doing is posting about politics and witch hunts and whatever, or actually fighting for that irl, and not doing anything else, then at the least you are going to burn out very *very* fast, but also you're probably not a great person to be around. Yes the grass is greener on the other side. We have a pool and a nice little stream and somewhat less intense and divisive politics. It's nice if you can find it, and you just need to do a little searching outside of the spaces you normally do.

Try joining a web forum, tbh. Or a mailing list. Or finding strange wonderful discords with queer and cis het people in where the worst drama of the year is how someone says "cat" in a non-standard way.

Just stay alive. Keep living.

In the 1920s in the Cymraeg valleys, women used to really really give a shit about how clean their houses were. It was a point of pride and reputation, and someone who didn't have a totally spotless house was inherently shameful.

A lot of fediverse treat their fediverse stuff like that, and that is actually very harmful, to yourself, and to those around you. Even the anti-callout/witch hunt posts and stuff, are kind of perpetuating the same thing, because it's engaging with it like it's a war?

Like I literally did not realise how much of my time was dealing with the random social bullshit of people who I had never met, just to avoid being on the wrong side of a dogpile, even when im on the periphery of it. This is not what is meant by affirmative action, rehabilitative justice, and anti-carcerality. I also did not realise how much that was affecting me.

Normal social spaces do not go up in flames every other week, with accusations of felonies or crimes. That is abusive. Get help.

I think dropping Fedi was a good decision, though. Like a really really good decision. Some of you on here are good, and nice, and kind, and lovely... but there's enough people on here who are not, and in some cases it's difficult to tell the people who are harmful from the people who won't engage in those types of harm, so...

Also, I don't have to worry about personal information leaks about random stuff anymore, or witch hunts, or who is the chosen Hated Person of the day.

Things are going well for me. Not quite "really well", but, yanno. Time will sort shit out and I just need to squeaky wheel it I think.

I have plans for the future and they are positive and good and hopeful. I'm still learning Cymraeg and it's fitting in my brain and I'm able to just casually make sentences now without thinking too hard, even if the forms are still limited. Vocab is now more of a bottleneck.

Librarians of a certain vintage, are any of you aware of a surviving copy of the BLCMP (Birmingham Libraries Co-operative Mechanisation Project) library automation software?
It existed in the 1980s and 1990s before being replaced with other systems like Talis or Dynix.
