I just tried to order a pizza and it wanted my credit card expiration date, so I entered "05/28" (example date only)
it then came back with a "your card is expired" error. Uh, no it isn't? that date is still several years in the future.
did... did this site just take my date and assume I mean May of the year AD 28? That is indeed very expired! that's what I get for trying to use Jesus's card.
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
@futurebird One weekend economics broke through the wall into anthropology's room and threw all of anthropology's toys into the trash. She filled anthropology's toy box with the toys that she stole earlier from statistics, after first smashing them with a hammer.
It took anthropology a while to notice (she was taking a long walk and arguing with herself at the time, as she did most weekends). When she found out she tried to throw things at economics, who scurried away into the walls.
Thinking about how Arch [or Arch derivatives like Manjaro] really do seem to have their shit together but I'd be worried about my system suddenly sliding from a good state to a bad state after one upgrade.
Is there like… a way to run Arch with checkpoints you can wind back?
Or is that just NixOS? Like is the thing I just described NixOS

Cargo ships are finding that using sails allows them to reduce fuel usage by *one third*. Only 30 of the world's 60,000 cargo ships are wind-assisted right now, but it appears that the entire industry has just figured out that it would be foolish *not* to put sails on their ships. The potential reduction in emissions—CO2 and otherwise—would serve as a significant reduction in the rate of climate change. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/03/climate/wind-powered-ships-climate.html
@intengineering LOL. In 50y, fossil fuel will only be used in petrochemicals. 200 y supply from known reserves?

Linus changed the kernel's contribution documentation to allow people to use a known identity instead of their legal name 🥰
Good news. Looking forward to being able to read and vote on the proposed deal. Hope that they now can close an acceptable deal with SAG-AFTRA.
Did you hear about the Prismatic Man?
He was kind of a polarizing figure.
I know many #blind people who use GMail's HTML view. Not only will they be confused but will be unhappy.

It should still work but doing so will not provide the option to set the mode as the default anymore.
Following the effective strike by #firearms officers in the Metropolitan #Police over one of their colleagues being chased with the murder of #ChrisKaba, we have a situation where the #army is 'supporting' the police in the counter-terrorism activities.
So, the firearms officers think they are above the law, the #Tories seeming interest in service level requirements doesn't seem to apply to armed officers, and we now have the army on the streets.
And this would by the #lawandorder party????
