I just completed "Playground" - Day 8 - Advent of Code 2025 with Common Lisp!

Not the most efficient at 16 seconds for part 2, but it gets it done.

Hello, friends! After 10(!) years of #AdventOfCode, I've made some changes to preserve my sanity: there will be 12 days of puzzles each December (still starting Dec 1) and there is no longer a global leaderboard. Read more:

@d6

saw this in my notifications again and came up with :

> $ echo "0001" | sed '{y/0123456789abcdef/fedcba9876543210/ ; s/^/0x/}' | awk -n '{printf("%x\n", $1 + 1)}'

> ffff

the single line printf one is way better though

Kind of amazing to think about how different the world might be today if PayPal had just... failed early on and shut down. You can trace so much nonsense today back to PayPal getting bailed out by eBay.

@Legit_Spaghetti @marlebean

about 2 and a half hours for an 11 pound (small) turkey! That's about how long it took me to do a large one in the oven!

image from "Microwave cooking, holidays & parties" from the Internet Archive

the book doesn't say what wattage oven they tested on, i assume 750?

picture from a cookbook for cooking a turkey in the microwave. basically cook on high for 10 minutes, then 50% for 1 and a half hours while turning it so all surfaces are exposed. also includes directions for just a turkey breast and "spanish chicken"
