#NowPlaying - aw, peaceful departures to cosmic traveler ariel kalma. i wrote notes for this anthology of his '70s recordings. a truly heady & wonder-filled sweetheart, like a french terry riley or something. https://arielkalma.bandcamp.com/album/an-evolutionary-music-original-recordings-1972-1979
many great recent bandcamp jams, too. https://ariel-kalma.bandcamp.com @vinylrecords
Sliiiiding into those Friday afternoon synapses
today, rich & i hit the end of our enjoying the ride deadcast season with some deep head history. thanks to sociologist rebecca adams (& her receipts!) we can pinpoint wide use of “shakedown street” to describe the parking lot scene to summer ’89. https://www.dead.net/deadcast/enjoying-ride-tour /1 #GratefulDead
It’s extremely funny to me that more than a decade later JRAD still only resembles the real thing for the five minutes after someone slams the “slow the fuck down” button, until 5 minutes later when the hamband timer goes off.

@mrcompletely seems unlikely, but I’m here for the attempt 🙂↕️
I submit for consideration two versions of Francis Bebey’s Haiti seperated by the span of a year:

At a minimum, the Jerry Bands, both of the Kings (Albert + Freddy), pick one of Toussaint or Dorsey you consider the original then call the other a cover, Leon Russell are all good/great

Enjoying this jungley pseudo-cumbia this morning. Recommend if you like La Lom.
Killer Ebo track: https://ebotaylor.bandcamp.com/track/will-you-promise
truly offensive to me on so many levels that major american publishers chose to spend their resources enthusiastically fighting @internetarchive instead of AI companies, like they got AI & IA confused.
@hunterking the dog was a metaphor for the record industry all along
