@GeoDon Qualified for Member Emeritus!
I am abandoning this instance effective immediately. Find me on https://mastodon.social/@AtanasE
@jkottke Drop a pin on Google Maps and send them the link.
@franksting For me it's sporadic. I can't post, then I wait 10-15 minutes and the post goes through. Then I can't post again.
@sidb Agree.
My instance mastodon.cloud has been misbehaving all day. I don't know what to do. Jump ship or ride it out.
@wills In the future everyone will have 15 minutes of privacy.
@GeoDon For every old geofogey like you and me who complains that the thing doesn't work there are fifty geograsshoppers and purchasing agents who marvel at the splash screen widget. You do the math.
I would totally join a 60+ geofogey Mastodon instance (show ID to join).
Today's ride pushed my Eddington Number from 33 to 34. If you're a cyclist and a number nerd the Eddington Number is right up your alley. I blogged about it and started a Strava club. Come join.
Apropos, Eddington also calculated the number of protons in the observable universe (1.57 x 10^79). Serious guy.

Absurdly geeky fun: 4-handed hex clock counting down to 2038.
@benlockwood I started an Eddington Number club on Strava. You are welcome to join.
A Trip down Memory Lane
I guess I'm keynoting the West TN TNGIC Conference....or I'm just the first speaker. I received a call and it went either "Hey we want you..." or "Hey the first four people cancelled so...." I didn't want to talk about The 911 project or the latest FOSS4G thing - so after sleeping on it for a week I decided to do a "10 year look back" at the US Virgin Island Project.

It's relatively easy to become a Nobel Prize laureate or Time Magazine Person Of The Year (I am both, ask me).
Getting your map in the #geohipster calendar, on the other hand, is a whole other level of achievement. But don't despair. Submit your map for consideration, and you might just make it to the pinnacle of GeoHipster fame.

@ExcelAnalytics Thank you!
@kgjenkins In my book it's figuring out whether when someone tells you to "check off" the checkbox they mean to put a check in the box or remove the check from the box.
Some of the records in this table were last updated in the 19th century. Or could it be the way #Excel handles dates? 🤔🧐
