Apple’s API Review team is hiring.

jobs.apple.com/en-us/details/2

The job description says “you’ll have a unique opportunity to help shape the technologies that inspire developers” and that’s no exaggeration.

The Problem with My City Is That It’s a City. “I moved to this city as a wide-eyed twenty-year-old, ready to take on the world with energetic abandon. Now, I’m no longer twenty years old. Something really has changed with this city.” mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-pr

Please boost our Gaza giving circle. We appreciate your $5 now more than ever! Today we’re highlighting Remas and Toleen, two girls who along with their family have survived truly awful circumstances.

tinyurl.com/HopeGivingCircle

A square white graphic. On the left is a stylized ink illustration of a kestrel falcon in black on white, without outline just the black marks on its wings and face, drawn from behind. His wings are partly open and his head is turned to the right. In his beak is an anemone poppy in red ink with a green stem.
On the right is the title "Keep hope alive: a gaza giving circle" in ink-effect font. The text says "We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. We distribute your contributions equally every week for sustainable support." In the bottom right corner in green text is the link tinyurl.com/HopeGivingCircle.

@hotdogsladies I was the lead keyboard in the pit band for my high school’s rendition of Les Mis. Performing this song was probably the highlight of those whole four years

Can’t say we sounded quite like that though

Evolution of the Alphabet via usefulcharts.com/

Infographic showing the "Evolution of the Alphabet" from Proto-Sinaitic (c. 1750 BCE) to Modern Latin Script. Colorful arrows trace the development of each letter through Phoenician, Archaic Greek, Archaic Latin, and Roman scripts, culminating in the modern 26-letter alphabet. The image demonstrates how letter shapes transformed over time.

This is my first post of a few to come highlighting that you should absolutely join a lab and talk with us about your localization setup!
Either a group lab or an individual one.

Every time I’ve been in one, we found one or two workflow improvements worth considering!

Another Tapestry release where we had to keep an eye on the 4,000 character limit on What’s New.

My favorite thing about this release was doing the social actions in an extensible way: any connector can use this new API. It’s also something that we can iterate on with future development.

As with most things it was @bigzaphod’s good idea. I just ran with it.

Big 2025.5 update in the App Store today!

- Completely rewrote the Watch app! MUCH faster and more reliable, and should eliminate MANY sync bugs.

- Disabled Lock Screen time-scrubbing by default to reduce accidental seeks (previously in Nitpicky, now in regular settings)

- Chapter rows no longer accidentally activate while scrolling

- Fixed universal links, CarPlay blank screens, certain audio conditions, playlist-reordering bugs

(And opened a restaurant on Fire Island in the meantime. 😉)

“To summarize: The bird in this scene does not live where it’s supposed to, look like it’s supposed to, or sound like it’s supposed to. To put this in terms of mammals, it’s as if a two-toed sloth climbed up to Bill Murray’s window, howled like some unknown species of canine, and Cameron Diaz identified the howl as a sea otter, saying that sea otters live in only one place on Earth: Carmel, California.”

#Iceland tested a reduced workweek 2014-2019:

”A pair of trials covering 1.3 per cent of the Icelandic workforce revealed that slashing weekly hours led to better employee #wellbeing, with less stress and burnout, while #productivity stayed the same or improved. The positive results sparked union pressure in Iceland, and now 86% of Icelandic workers either work shorter weeks or have the right to ask to do so.“
