folks i am positing to you a genuine question: what do people use these days in place of duolingo? ive heard theres Some Shit (tm) going on with them being not great these days company-wise so ideally itd be nice to avoid it.

i'm looking for something that will offer similar things free. duolingo gave a pretty healthy chunk of stuff out to its free users, which made it ideal a lot of the time vs other options.

i'm looking to pick up French; i was considering using duolingo for just some basic vocabulary purposes before i got more serious about learning it after i get ADHD medication. if you have good resources for that (free or paid) then please do share them so i can bookmark them for later...but the duolingo replacement is more ideal if possible!

mostly looking for a way to do this on both desktop and phone with minimal effort required on my part to set it up and flip between the devices. any suggestion is appreciated!

EDIT: i should have mentioned this in the first place but libraries are not quite as viable an option as it may seem for me; UK libraries are not as comprehensive in terms of services and things offered vs US libraries, unfortunately.

the gist is that nothing got breached, it wasnt anything.

to quote from the above link:
"The leak consisted of older text messages that included one-time codes that were only valid for 15-minute time frames and the phone numbers they were sent to.

The leaked data did not associate the phone numbers with a Steam account, password information, payment information or other personal data.

Old text messages cannot be used to breach the security of your Steam account, and whenever a code is used to change your Steam email or password using SMS, you will receive a confirmation via email and/or Steam secure messages.
