I don’t read the news, but today I did, and it really got me thinking.
Internet culture has reshaped how we relate to knowledge. Alignment now seems to matter more than accuracy, and online, there is always some place, or some person, willing to offer alignment.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but opinions are not the same thing as evidence, and they shouldn’t be the primary force shaping public decisions that affect everyone. Yet we increasingly see the opposite in government, where votes are currency and policy is shaped to match prevailing opinion, whether or not that opinion is accurate. Few politicians are willing to bankrupt themselves (except morally) by telling people something they don’t want to hear.
I am losing oil platforms in a land war to a country without a navy in a sea they don't even border.
I remain a master strategist.

Ein Präsident, der (in Kupyansk, wo gerade die Russen aus der Stadt getrieben werden) an der Front steht und zu seinem Volk spricht, um ihn herum Drohnennetze und im Hintergrund hört man Explosionen.

Yeah, that’s happening, but it doesn’t excuse the choices they made when they made them. They’re just feeling consequence for their ignorance, bigotry and bad decisions. I’m glad they’re slinking away from him, but I have zero empathy for them.

Der Fall Elon Musk zeigt einmal mehr, wie fatal es ist, Reichtum als Zeichen für besondere Genialität & Kompetenz zu interpretieren. Die Gründe für Reichtum können vielfältig sein. Reichtum ist zudem weder ein Indikator für moralische Integrität, noch Ersatz für demokratische Legitimation.

Russland führt seit langem einen hybriden Krieg gegen Europa. Nur wollen sich das viele hier nicht eingestehen.
It's not that "the Internet" is worse or "enshittified" or whatnot. That's just clinging to the belief that the Internet is special and separate from the "real world".
The world is being made worse by capitalism in a massive way.
