@Derdnik Thank man. Yeah it's the strangest thing. Out of hundreds of mics which I've undoubtedly shocked in the past, this has never happened, let alone twice in less than 24 hours. $4,000 of interfaces fried.

I'll be sharing once I determine the cause because I need to sound the alarm if it's something people can encounter.

Calling all audio folks. Yesterday I fried my UA X8. I setup my backup UA Twin X and today fried the inputs of that as well. All I can think is the mic sent static electricity into the preamp circuit. Has anyone experienced this before?

@csb it resolved the noise issue where low frequencies introduce white noise. But it does not alter the preamp noise.

@csb Not sure on the horizontal mic(s) but the silver one looks a heck of a lot like a U87 head basket.

@adam @csb yes sir. That is the AEA KU5A. It's an active supercardioid ribbon mic. It has a very healthy output because of the active electronics so it avoids the common Ribbon mic issue of being too quiet. And it's also supercardioid, so fewer issues comb filtering on the rear lobe of sensitivity indoors. But it still offers that rich and smooth ribbon sound.

@csb Maybe Audio Technica at4050 or maybe at4047. It definitely looks like some variant of the Audio Technica 40 series if I'm not mistaken.
