I haven't attended a lot of readings since the pandemic, but one of the few I have attended -- although, admittedly, not often enough -- is Randee Dawn's Brooklyn Books & Booze @ Barrow’s Intense. It takes place once a month, every third Tuesday at an interesting bar in Brooklyn's Industry City that specializes in ginger liqueurs (although it offers other drinks as well).

@Zumbador Thank you. It's taken me a lifetime to get over the whole "don't be boastful" thing that was drummed into me for most of my youth, and which is still hard to get past sometime. This helps.

As a confirmed Otis fan, I was happy to see the bear in his usual place on the edge of the waterfall, catching and salmon with his usual efficiency. I've been participating in the Google Opinion Rewards for some time now. Today I'm asked whether I recently saw a movie online called Within Our Gates, and I said yes. Now, Within Our Gates is a 1920 silent film by the Black producer and director Oscar Micheaux, and it deals with the racism of the time. So when the next question was, "Was the film fun?" how was I supposed to answer? No, the film was really good, especially for its time, but it wasn't "fun."

A really interesting article by my Verge colleague @thedextriarchy. She spent a weekend using Sudowrite's AI engine to write a novella, and has documented her experiences.
