This is the true problem with AI. It's with who owns it, and what they will inevitably use it for. Whether it can do cool stuff with code or equal a junior developer is irrelevant. What it can do is less important than what it will be used for.
The owning class will use it to reduce payroll costs, which from their perspective is a cost center and always will be. If you're not an owner, then you have no control over the direction or use of AI. You are doomed to have your life disrupted and changed by it, with no input whatsoever. To quote the article, your six shillings a day can become six shillings a week, and you are left to just deal with it however you can. You are "free" to go find some other six shilling a week job. If you can.
And if you think, "Oh, every technology is like this, it's always been this way", you are right. You have always been at the whims of the owning class, and barring a change towards economic democracy, where average people regain control over their lives, it likely always will be.

Leafs fans are so fickle; and they are so mad about the team making it into the top 8, almost beating the defending stanley cup champions who don’t look weaker than they were last year, after losing their number one goalie to a brain injury. Yes they had some bad games near the end but the team was much better than last year. You can’t just win the cup because you want it, it’s hard, and it takes luck too. I don’t think the Leafs played their best in that game 7 but I think it’s really unfair to rest the last 30 years of bad performances on two bad games at the end of a great season and strong playoff run.

I love that cats that aren’t domesticated don’t meow when they grow up, but domesticated cats do because they learned humans don’t understand their natural communication, so they keep meowing beyond the kitten stage just for us. So basically cats made up a language just to talk to us. And that language is essentially baby talk.

I've seen some questions and concerns around the new Terms of Service that mastodon.social has announced will be coming into effect on July 1, and how they might affect sunny.garden.

The announced ToS changes only apply to users of mastodon.social, and do not apply to users of sunny.garden.
They also won't apply to other Mastodon servers in general, unless the admins of those servers decide to adopt similar ToS.
What is coming in the release of Mastodon v4.4 is a new Terms of Service page which can optionally be configured by the admin to display either a completely custom Terms of Service, or one generated using Mastodon's default template.
sunny.garden will not be adopting the default template in the short term. For better or worse, we don't currently have a Terms of Service, and would take some time and discussion to develop one, if that makes sense to do so in the future.
