"This is fine" in the sense that even if it did pass, everyone using them now would get really really mad and search for alternatives immediately.

It would be absurdly monumentally stupid, though.

Because how would that work with malware?

You request something from an address, without having full knowledge of what it is, that's why you're requesting it. Then the thing has malware and the malware protection would violate the copyright of the malware maker?

@larsmb "never touch a running system" is good advice for beginners 😎

...

😨😱

It's for everyone!!

But seriously, this is probably something "people" don't do enough, if you could write up what things you run into, even as an expert, those are probably pain points everyone runs into and they're just rare enough that they're not being fixed. Would be valuable to know where those pain points are.

Installs are only smooth now because it's the way to hard reset if something seriously goes wrong.

@borup

Wrong. (Partially) It is not (just) malicious compliance by the companies.

It is malicious compliance by the EU member nations.

They have a directive and a law and they could enforce what's actually in the law and in the directive, which is already clearly stating that dark patterns must be avoided and data usage must(!) be minimized.

And they just sit there and twiddle their thumbs.

@Daojoan

Most importantly, believing in hope and success is a necessary condition for productive creativity. You *must* believe that whatever you want to try can work, otherwise, why even try?

Also, framing. If you are so certain that some things fail, identify the problem, prevent it next time and try again. (If being a cynic had made anyone smart or wise, that should be easy).

You're not failing, you're gathering data.

Reading in a forum...

"eugh, to do that, do this yadda yadda, To repent for your sins read [link] "Data Lifecycle" 10 times."

and then the link 404's.

Nothing about #art brings a smile to my face, the way that this museum had hung this abstract painting upside down by accident.

For decades.

"After the issue was pointed out, a number of curators stated that the error was obvious."

Ok. Sure. 🤣

@grechaw @rolle @lashman

I totally get, a well working, well studied hotkey set is 👌 I have the same opinion about the blender 2.49+ "old" keybind set.

Let me gush about it a bit, since this was more about text...

blender does 3d. So. translation(g), rotation(r), scaling(s) have hotkeys. pressing +x,y or z once, locks to global axis. Pressing it twice locks to local axis, pressing shift+x, locks to "not x" plane. And blender has like 20 editors, and they work **everywhere**. It's glorious.

The basics of the basics aren't that hard.

The real question is if you really want to switch your interaction with your computer to be keyboard only.

I know some vim, and I just prefer using the mouse, my typing speed and action speed isn't that high that I lose significant time to grabbing the mouse.

@raccoonformality

I **strongly** encourage everyone who thinks they have a take to actually read the open letter by the "collective shout" group that got this stone rolling.

(itch links it)

I'm all for free speech and generally letting people buy the things they want.

This is not that.

#Itchio and #steam are doing butt covering stuff right now, THAT is causing the blanket delisting, it was not the initial demand.

The thing that I find surprising about conferences is that people have to spend a lot of time attending.

If it's about the exchange of information, can't you do a "call for submissions" on topics and people do either videos or submit essays on the stuff they want to say and then people can watch or read that?

If it's about socializing you already have your answer, but then you're also asking if it's a "good idea" to organize a simple hang out.

Joa.

@11011110 asking for clarification, the circle going through the points forms a polygon and it's the circle with most points, maximizing the angle flatness at each point?

And the method finds this polygon given all points in an effectively random order?

This is the fediverse, don't complain, just share the name of the source and then we can collectively filter that source out of existence. 😊
