Just a dude living in a tech world. I play
#Go / #Baduk , challenge me on OGS if you want a game!

I recently rebuilt my #Linux #gaming rig to be full #AMD and for the most part I am absolutely loving it. Not having to worry about an update just breaking my graphics is so so nice, and the gaming support for it is also really nice (specifically shader-cache time on steam went way down).

But man is
#Blender support frustratingly bad... Using the HIP renderer for cycles works for the most part, but will almost always crash blender at some point. That plus numerous issues with #greasepencil lagging and crashing when working with strokes, or antialiasing being severely broken.

It's so bad that for my last render I did, I needed to render the animation on my laptop that uses Intel Integrated Graphics
😭 It makes me miss my CUDA cores lol.

I picked #Blender back up again this week. I made this grave site using #greasepencil

Im super happy with how it turned out!

In case it isn't glaringly obvious, the next frontier in protecting our data is denying services that want to use us to train ML models. And no adblocker is going to do the job. Someone's gonna have to read every ToS, Privacy Statement, and EULA to find out who's doing what.

@governa@fosstodon.org Mac out here getting the Linux treatment, ya hate to see it.

@malwaretech@infosec.exchange Sorry man, hope things get better!

Not sure if it's a US specific thing, but the empathy towards reformed criminals here is pretty much non-existent. People who served their sentence here are generally in for a life of harsh discrimination.

It's strange to me that the cybersec industry is treating you the same, considering how many prolific figures exist in the space that have broken the law, served their time, and started using their skills for something better. Samy Kamkar being the prime example coming to mind.

@malwaretech@infosec.exchange 🀒 the fact that its mesh building wide might actually make me sick.

One other thing is that developers are rightly mad at Unity.

However, all gamers should also be *extremely* mad at Unity because the only way they can enforce their proposed license is carefully tracking user behavior in a deeply invasive way.

@smartgo@mastodon.social I see lol. I downloaded a sample and even the Calibre reader isn't a fan of the interactive diagrams. I can't justify an iPad just for Go, unfortunately, but I still love the effort!

2023-08-31

@smartgo@mastodon.social I actually have an e-reader, and was wondering how well Go books would work on it. I'll have to give one a shot soon, lol

2023-08-31

@smartgo@mastodon.social Gotcha, thats very understandable! Ill just keep ogling from across the fence lol

2023-08-31

@smartgo@mastodon.social Hey There! Have you considered porting this app over to Android? We are in desperate need of a good SGF / Kifu app lol

"Whoa there" yourself, Adobe. I am mildly annoyed by the phrasing that makes it look like it's my fault that a corporation can't be bothered to develop for Firefox.

The screenshot of an error popup:

Whoa there! Your browser is unsupported

To open Adobe Express in the web app, copy the application link and open it in the latest version of one of our supported browsers: Safari, Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

Several years in the making, GitLab is now very actively implementing #ActivityPub! πŸ™Œ

gitlab.com/groups/gitlab-org/-

The end-goal is to support AP for merge requests (aka pull requests), meaning git.alice.dev can send a merge request to gitlab.com/Bob/project.git

First bite-sized todo on the implementation path there is β€˜subscribe to project releases’.

Smart move by #GitLab; through ActivityPub they’re getting a distributed version of GitHub’s social layer.

Why does mobile performance on #firefish seem to be so much worse than a full browser? πŸ˜₯

Using The PWA on my phone with data is unusably laggy, and images just seem to refuse to load. But performance on my laptop seems a-okay.

@governa@fosstodon.org I remember when she had left quietly, being confused about what could have happened. Its pretty sad to see that this was her experience.

Its frustrating to see her get ignored like that, if this is true. I remember someone asking Linus about his employees unionizing and he would "feel like he failed as a boss" if his employees felt the need to unionize. Sounds like he did fail, and they should definitely consider unionizing...

@squidfunk@fosstodon.org Either way, having a bunch of meaningless badges sounds comical πŸ˜‚ im into it

I got an e-reader last week and have been #reading the #overlord light novels. This is the msot I have read in a long time and I am really enjoying myself!

Its crazy how easy it is to pickup my small reader and just churn out some reading with the lights off before bed.
