@mehulkar yet some tend to be banned or blocked because they're insufficiently moderated, so I'd rather join one with peers than stay on one that is so massively difficult to moderate.

Looking for a Masto instance to talk about the web, Front-End mostly, accessibility, web performance, UX, that would still accept new signups. Any idea?

@SaraSoueidan What I really like about those attributes is how they can help establish a discussion around a common grammar for custom semantic matters in the code. I feel the same with CSS variables, just by reading their names, they can help create a shared understanding of what the code does, even with people that don't know CSS a lot.

Once again, I find myself explaining that no, we don't have a consensus metric for "when users are able to interact with the page". And that it's not even the right question, really.

@gfiorelli1 @guaca As I often say, web performance is about web quality, like security or accessibility. You won't get there with only a few experts for a few days, but by carefully thinking about your governance and culture so that more people in your company can have an open discussion about it.

Cannot but agree with what @guaca shares here:
“I don’t know who needs to hear this but optimizing your LCP images won't improve your if the image request starts 4s after the page starts loading.
is not about isolated improvements. You need to analyze the whole picture to prioritize the implementations properly.”

The article mentions an open letter from advocates. It’s an incredible collection of real user feedback (from the birdsite, FWIW) along with signatures and references to other pieces detailing the failures of these overlays. I find myself sharing this link with people a *lot* recently in the context of because a lot of these tools are so bloated that they also tank performance scores overlayfactsheet.com/

@lizzi If you have already done that, I would not decorate with an Aria Element but either change the text to "the 'head' element" or keep it like this. "the less than head greater than element" may seem strange but it's actually useful info to be able to type the code of the element if I need to.

Boris Schapiraboostmarks

@lizzi how about using a <code> element? I don't know how this is vocalized but at least it would be semantically better.
