Thrilled the panel Diane Jakacki & I organized for #mla25 is accepted.
Ever wish you hadn't missed the classic 2011 MLA DH panel? Come and see @kfitz @ayliu @laurenfklein @triproftri
as well as Kenton Rambsy and Steve Ramsay dish about DH textbooks.
Remember blogs? @dianejakacki and I just wrote up a short history of What We Teach When We Teach DH. Stop by if you want a glance at the table of contents and a synopsis of every chapter.

So, I reworked my blogging assignment this year to "Blogging with AI." See what you think: https://briancroxall.net/f23dh/assignments/blogging/.
Sometimes we just write the code we are capable of and will get the job done, even if it's not as efficient as we're pretty sure it can be.
Because sometimes the office's Python expert is working from home.
@jackdougherty Curious to know why you're selling it. I have a Priority Classic and love it. I keep lusting after their Current.
As I'm switching back from doing a lot of PHP recently to doing Python, I obnoxiously find myself wanting to append ; to every line I type.
And then I scream.
Coming soon to a bookstand near you! The newest volume in #dhdebates, edited by Diane Jakacki and myself!
This is the message. Shout it from the rooftops and beat the GOP to death with it.
I've been waiting *years* to say this:
Do you have to know how to code? I’m a tenured professor of digital humanities and I say “yes”.
(With apologies to @sramsay)
For the last four years, my students and I have been encoding Peanuts comics into TEI using the CBML schema that John Walsh pioneered. I'm doing some stuff with the data and discovered that as of today I have exactly 2,000 strips encoded. That's only 11% of the whole, but it's crazy to see what we've been able to accomplish tackling small bits at a time.
Okay, so I'm a HUGE fan of ranked-choice voting. But for the love of Nowviske, @ach, I'm not sure how well it works for NINETEEN different ACH exec candidates.
@jmittell You might want this…

@sharonmleon Brilliant
@foundhistory A shame if understandable. We’ll always have IA and The Well
@jbj Annual subscription seems super pricy
@foundhistory Looks like https://oneweekonetool.org/ has been taken over by spam.
I'm thrilled to see AHA taking the NYT's ire this year instead of the MLA: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/08/arts/american-historical-association-james-sweet.html
@sramsay Sold!
