We have seen a female Cooper's in the yard so often we have come to believe that one is now living near. This afternoon she sat on the railing near the front door, easily visible from my desk, for quite a while!

Our recent storm started with snow and ended with hours of sleet. This made a "snowcrete" layer between 2 and 4 inches thick on top of packed snow. People are using axes, picks, and heavy shovels to break up the snowcrete. Some are then building with the resulting flat pieces.
