@alanfleming @adapalmer Apologies if I am misunderstanding your post, but, it seems like you perhaps saw the headline and image and skimmed over the actual post?

This post is about batteries + solar enabling round-the-clock power at low latitudes and specifically mentions several such cities around the world that get sun year round.

Your response seems to be about high latitudes that get all-day sun six months of the year, which is not at all what this post is about.

> On November 28th, 2012, Randall Munroe published an xkcd comic that was a calendar in which the size of each date was proportional to how often each date is referenced by its ordinal name (…) "In months other than September, the 11th is mentioned substantially less often than any other date. It's been that way since long before 9/11 and I have no idea why." After digging into the raw data, I believe I have figured out why.

This is the 100 year anniversary of humans having an idea of what the heck the sun and all the stars actually are. If you had asked a leading astronomer in 1925 what the sun was, they would say that it's basically the same as Earth, but very hot.

In Cecilia Payne's doctoral thesis she was the first to say, from spectral data, that the sun was overwhelmingly made of hydrogen and helium.

It was later described as "the most brilliant PhD thesis ever written in astronomy".

When I say I am "trans" I mean… I AM INTELLECTUALLY CERTAIN THAT "GENDER" IS A SCAM MADE UP BY GREETING CARD COMPANIES BUT ALSO IT'S BRAIN-STEM IMPORTANT TO ME I NOT JUST PRESENT FEMININELY BUT THAT THIS PRESENTATION BE PERCEIVED AS FEMININE BY OTHERS, AND THE CONSISTENCY BETWEEN MY EXPERIENCE IN THIS REGARD AND THAT OF OTHERS CAUSES ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A BIOLOGICAL ETIOLOGY TO TRANSGENDERISM, HOWEVER EVEN IF THERE WERE NO BIOLOGICAL COMPONENT WE WOULD STILL DESERVE KINDNESS AND RECOGNITION

@amapanda Thank you!

I had good reason to suspect finally getting these nodes arranged correctly was gonna make a lot of things better, and while getting the changeset closed has been quite the process...damn, it has absolutely been worth the hassle 🥰

it is envisoning a device.

Said device has MIDI ports (of the various kinds, including being able to USB host) and allows writing scripts or making A->B mappings for the sake of hooking up bits of midi gear to each other that don't play nice together, to force them to play nice with each other. This thingy is, notably, not a piece of software, but a piece of dedicated hardware that, once a mapping is made, can be 100% plug-it-in-the-midi-chain-and-forget-about-it. It would be powerful enough to, say, map a bunch of stuff for controlling a hardware synth to something like a mk1 ableton push, launchpad, fader controller etc etc.

Does this already exist? Anybody aware of such a device? (preferably affordably)

boosts appreciated!

@amapanda I greatly enjoyed the term selection, and it feels appropriate, especially since it's not *entirely* reversal, there's some replace going on as well  And congrats on the scheduling!!! :blobhaj_hearttrans:

Whoa. A security cam in Myanmar captured an earthquake fault rupture live. This may be the first ever caught on camera?

Watch the fence-line on the right. And note the power-line tower behind it.

I just played #Portal with my kid and now he wants to make the cake. He likes baking. Anyone got a good recipe that sort of follows the game's recipe?

In various colored markers and in a mix of print, caps, and faux calligraphy, the text has been written on a half paper towel: "I would rather see your shittiest most half-assed napkin doodle than a single frame of your finest AI slop." There is a goo drawn dripping from the word "slop" and all the letters are a bit blurred and spread (as markers on paper towels are wont to do). The background is a wooden desk with some of the markers visible in the upper corners.

I'm looking for an alternative for google drive & co. I found Infomaniak (via european-alternatives.eu/). on the surface, it looks very promising, and the pricing is okay.

Does anyone have good/bad experiences with them? Are there recommendations?

Some numbers. $2,500 is left on our fundraiser. We're halfway. I'd freaking love to hit that.

But if we can't, bare-bones I need $300 for a generator rental (we are off-grid and fully self-powered. More funds and I'll do bigger solar this gear), $100 for educational decor, and I pulled $700 from my (meager) savings for poorer campers already.

$1,100 would do a LOT.

@Her_Doing Ooh, I've been doing exactly this on my own for a while - taking minute-long landscape, fixed-location videos of tranquil scenes (although not always in parks), even often holding my breath! I had ambitions of putting together a similar site, so it's lovely to see someone else has beaten me to it!

Definitely going to go through my videos and submit the ones that fit the bill. Thanks for the boost, @bright_helpings!
