On the positive side it’ll possibly be a great phone for postmarketOS.

As this is a graph of comments and likes to posts by @heiseonline@social.heise.de - who don’t post to Lemmy/Piefed - it’s probably not related to Reddit. But quitting X is also a good new years resolution I guess. :)
There seems to be a January effect of sorts, being the highest peak of both years. Is journalism more interesting in January, are people bored in winter after Christmas, is it random, or is something else going on? Could be interesting to know. I’d love to see whether this happens again in 2026.
My interpretation of usage trends is that the novelty is wearing off, and the people left using these sites are largely just using them normally. Less and less content is meta-discussions about being here and not being elsewhere. Of course some users leave as the novelty wears off, but enough seem to have stayed that I’m pretty optimistic it won’t go back to being a dusty corner reserved for only the biggest open source fanatics.
Oh, and here’s the graph of comments over time, as only the first picture federated to where I’m reading from:
@rimu@piefed.social - I’m assuming this is a known bug :)
For anyone who wants to read the statements of the artist directly, they are screenshoted in this mastodon post.
I’m waiting for the moment those words and actions align. Until then, this trophy is yours.
It’s a strange return as it seems like they are just temporarily lending it back to Eurovision, but I guess that doesn’t matter much as it gathers headlines and brings attention to the issue. So it’s good stuff.
Don’t forget to report, if you have good reason to believe you’re seeing a bot that is not properly marked as such.
The fur covered in snow is a very good sign - it means it’s keeping its heat well inside, with the heat that is escaping not even managing to melt the snow that’s stuck to it. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s actually doing alright under there.
I was interested in getting some,so checked out the website of Shokz. On the positive side they are very dedicated to openness—their slogan is “be open” —, but on the negative side they define openness narrowly as “not inside your ears”.
I was hoping to find information about sustainability and repairability, and for a second I got my hopes up. Oh well.
Hopefully we’ll see some less crap products in the future. I feel like the technology is promising.
Thanks! I was traveling too much while it was in the cinema, but it’s one of the few movies in recent years I’ve been sad to miss. If nothing else it looks like something different. Happy to hear it’s not universally hated!
That’s super neat. Is it a mess to water?
I think most great artists pursue their art because of a love of the art. Film making is expensive and like everyone else they need to put food on the table, but any artist who is in it for the money is already lost.
I haven’t seen Megalopolis yet, but I think it’s a great example of a film maker having no interest in return of investment. The closing statements of Life of Brian is another great example: “I told him, I said to him, Bernie, I said, they’ll never make their money back.”
As for Fortnite, it might be more similar to Roblox than I thought. ;)
Yeah, and it’s particularly unreliable for new movies. And even when it’s not abused it’s obviously just a measure of popular taste - which is widely known to be pretty shit. So yeah, I agree with your reluctance towards that source.
Nevertheless, checking 10/10 reviews of Tarantino’s short on IMDB, one of the top reviews boast about how “the entire fight scene including the usage of curses like the original films do"—as if hearing a character from their favorite video game swear is such a thrill it justifies a top score. It’s hard to be to optimistic.
I don’t think the haters care much about fortnite, we just don’t like sell-outs. My only feelings towards fortnite is that I’m happy my nephew is finally playing something else than fucking roblox. Tarantino would have been equally wise to team up with either, in my opinion.
(also, I’m not here to tell you how to live your life, but you might hopefully find a slightly less toxic open source community over at !opensource@programming.dev )
Your soles should last way longer than that. On a set of proper boots the soles should last for years and years.
My chelsea boots are from Blundstone, and they show no sign of wear so far. That said I’ve only had them for half a year or so, so I still consider them new shoes—I expect they’ll last many more years.
I have nothing but good experiences with Vibram soles, to the point where I won’t buy hiking boots with anything else these days.
My hiking boots are from Alfa, and I couldn’t be happier with them. They sell a wide version as well. Not cheap though—hopefully it’ll pay off after a few years.
They didn’t give a shit about Jimmy Savile raping children until after he was dead. The only reason there was no scandal earlier was because the BBC didn’t allow there to be a scandal.
I’m not sure what it would take for the BBC to do the right thing, but I have a feeling it’s a lot.
Tesla was founded in 2003.
The Antique Automobile Club of America defines an antique car as over 25 years of age, which is predictably a much lower threshold than what is common in Europe. But even so, my point remains: There is no such thing as an old Tesla.
Yuki’s Revenge on IMDB, rocking a predictable 5.6 score.
Here’s the trailer on YouTube. I haven’t watched it with sound, but the art style is horrendous. Bloody shame.
I just want a proper, no bullshit live action Kill Bill 3 with Uma Thurman where a now grown up daughter of Copperhead comes back for revenge. Is that really too much to ask.
I think instances with ideological underpinnings is fine, and maybe inevitable. The crucial thing is that they need to be honest about it, so that those not interested can go elsewhere.
The problem with lemmy.ml is that it pretends to be a catch-all instance when it’s in fact very much not, and that it doesn’t tell users up front what it’s all about. Both Hexbear and Lemmygrad are better in that respect—at least they’re honest.
It’s legit. I guess they receive LineageOS updates directly, in which case I don’t think there’s any real disadvantage here.
