I'll confess I've never invested the time to make Mastodon my SM home. I've found certain things klunky. Bluesky's experience is a bit smoother, and it has developed the critical mass of users that makes it feel like I'm not "missing out."

Part of me thinks I should always be thankful for any learning opportunity, and part of me thinks I could have gone to my grave happily without learning firsthand what "kakistocracy" means.
While I can't say I'm a real fan of Will Forte as an actor, the rest of the cast is solid, and the plot offers plenty of twists and turns to keep your interest. A nice balance of humour, charm, and suspense. I'd give it 4.5/5 stars.

Just finished Bodkin (Netflix) a mystery thriller that centres on a team of podcasters whose examination of an old mysterious disappearance in a small Irish town entangles then in some very current and serious intrigue.

Over on Bluesky someone with "libertarian socialist" in their bio just followed me, and I think my brain broke.
Finished Season 2 of The Diplomat (Netflix). Still great. The acting is rock-solid and the dialogue whip-smart, reminiscent of Aaron Sorkin. Political intrigue filled with deeply flawed, interesting characters. I could quibble that the finale's cliff-hanger bordered on farce, but I'll forgive it.
And now for something completely different. I love that he looks like he just stepped out of Lord of the Rings, but his drum appears to be fixed with duck tape.
Set aside the nonsense of the world for 3 minutes to appreciate this young genius.

I was this many years old when I learned that Spam was originally an acronym for Specially Processed American Meat, and now it might just be even just a bit more ghastly than before.
OK, this is more of an observation than a serious gripe, but I've been #1 on the waiting list for *11 copies* of this book for over a week now. How freakin' long does it take people to read a simple mystery novel? 🤪 All 11 people could have read it in that time. No wonder I've been waiting since June to get my hands on it.
