we will go down the chart https://web-frameworks-benchmark.netlify.app/result?l=javascript
until we find a project that is not slop and not awful
how hard could it be
impossibly aged programmerer (over 30). won't fuck with windows.
trying to eke out a slopfree existence where possible
re-tootable. inscrutable. indubitable.

chat i am so very tired
this assumes that I'm not an asshole, naturally
i might be an asshole but i am generally, usually, most of the time trying to not be?
in what world do i not have to reimplement an http server from scratch to use a project that isn't infested with slop or maintained by assholes
built a quick proof of concept server with uWebSockets but in digging through its github repo its maintainer seems... really, really unpleasant?
That's done on Friday, isn't it?
a wise person would respond "since when does hackathon code get deployed to prod" that's an excellent question!!
eng orgs with vibe coding hackathons for pms and designers, who gets paged at 3am when the new features have issues? asking for a friend
wake me up when they invent vibeops
i can definitely say it ain't "history"
pervasive feeling that we are at the end. of what, i don't know exactly
@atax1a thanks, and oh no I am now learning that there is a separate fail2ban brouhaha i was previously unaware of (having just installed it)
@atax1a i fear i am going to say something controversial by making this my understanding, but it sounds like nosh is more "the unix way" and systemd is more "black box magic"?
@atax1a I am definitely someone who knows nothing about systemd besides that I want to run a daemonized service and that it seems to be the standard on debian which I am running. no horse in this particular race at all. even looking at nosh at first I'm not sure why I want it over systemd but it's because I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing here... yet
@atax1a thank you kindly, I will look into it
@cap_ybarra we are a unix traditionalist in a way and so we use runit. if you are aware of systemd and like it, we currently recommend https://jdebp.uk/Softwares/nosh/
I know this because every time anyone mentions systemd on my timeline everyone draws their knives and begins snapping their fingers to a beat I can't hear
I've never had to be aware of systemd until today, when I am trying to selfhost a nodejs app server. I'm sure this will go well 💪🏻
shockingly, you are not entitled to us accepting your ideas or premises! if we shut down the conversation, and you can't recover from that, maybe you should ask chatgpt what to do about it
