Sitting at the 40h mark in Dune Awakening and my mixed feelings haven't become any less mixed.
The way the game captures the feel of Dune in every moment is amazing, but the resource grind and live-serviceness are oppressive.
Would be a solid 9/10 if singleplayer/self-hosted multiplayer.

@britt also big lmao at hopping back and forth with fields. I did maths and physics stream in HS, then linguistics undergrad, then wormed my way back into computers, first as QA and now as software engineer.

@britt Unless your postgrad has an explicit Stats course completion requirement (which might be listed somewhere), I'd just take whatever tickles your fancy more.

You will always be better in something you enjoy. I got into logic after learning about many-value logics and that made me enjoy the basic course a lot, but the advanced course was concentrated on basically math problems and proofs and it was miserable.

@britt I am still really into formal logic, even with the bad experience I had with the advanced course. It's a very interesting branch on the border of maths and philosophy, and it slotted super nicely in my linguistics degree given my structure-oriented approach to the field.

@britt I did thoroughly enjoy the basic logic module I did as part of philosophy stream in my undergrad.
The advanced module was a nightmare because of a massive difficulty spike (felt like at least one or two modules were missing in between basic and advanced) + change of lecturer + a lot of personal problems at the time.

I love a good mansplain smackdown.

You don't need to use weird spellings or algospeak for any topics on the Fediverse ("unalived", "seggs" etc). There is no automated moderation or algorithm on here, moderation happens entirely through human beings and posts are shown in chronological order.

In fact it's better that you use the correct spellings for difficult topics so that people with genuine traumas related to them can filter them more easily.

I am so early in this chapter of my journey that I don't really have much to say for TDOV but here's one thing that I've observed for years now: one day of visibility means fuck all when trans people are a target of concerted efforts of wealthy and powerful people and organisations.

As for me I have reached a point where pretending to be ok as a man is "no longer sustainable" lmao.
Fuck knows where that will take me over the next few years, but trying out new things has been so far quite fun.
