#BookReview for "The Bastard Brigade: The True Story of the Renegade Scientists and Spies Who Sabotaged the Nazi Atomic Bomb" by Sam Kean

Fascinating look at some of the characters involved in the efforts to develop, or to stop, the Nazis from creating an atomic bomb. Colorful characters!

Although I don't see specific numbers, Tyrant #Trump's parade attendance was embarrassingly low (largely due in part to incompetence in organizing the event)
On the other hand, "No Kings" appears to have been the LARGEST protest in US history!
Congrats Trump. You have, yet again, broken records in all the worst ways.
And of course, the lies keep coming.
"Trump’s Director of Communications, Steven Cheung, claimed in a series of X posts that “over 250,000 people” attended the 250th anniversary event, whereas the “No King’s [sic] Protests have been a complete and utter failure with minuscule attendance.”"
None of that is true.
How on earth do conservatives tolerate their leaders constantly, provably, objectively lying to them on the daily?

#BookReview for "Autism Relationships Handbook: How to Thrive in Friendships, Dating, and Love" by Faith G. Harper PhD LPC-S ACS ACN, Joe Biel
Not bad.
A sincere attempt at a guide for adult autistics at a loss for how social expectations work. Guidelines are given briefly without elaboration, so they may not be easily understood or remembered.

#BookReview for "Thanks a Thousand: A Gratitude Journey" by A. J. Jacobs
Not bad
Very short book. Cute thoughts on gratitude. Interesting look at how interconnected we are, how complex every product is. Mostly entertaining to follow author's awkward attempt to fulfill his mission.

#BookReview for "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century" Timothy Snyder

Tiny book. A bit dated (2017) and yet so, so appropriate at the present moment. Important messages. I just wish it was longer and that the author didn't have so many oblique references to political folks only people paying close attention to the news in 2017 would get.

I go through a ridiculous number of Audible books. (I know, I know, Amazon is evil, and I'm trying to transition to libro.fm - but it's hard to resist those huge sales.)
For the first time, I believe I bought an AI-generated book. Mad at myself and mad at Audible/Amazon.
The book description is an overhyped sales pitch. The reviews - all 5 stars - are all from people who received the book for free. Yet there are zero reviews on GoodReads. The book itself is a meaningless murmur of vague phrases. No personal stories, no concrete dates or places, nothing to actually learn and apply. The author has no web presence whatsoever, despite having published 30 books on Audible. The fact that some of those books are on developing psychic powers or creating LLCs makes me doubt their credibility and motives.
Sadly, Audible doesn't care if books are AI generated.
