Slave owners used to call Black men of all ages "boy" just to be extra disrespectful.

To this day, it's... very unwise to call a full grown Black man "boy," just as it's unwise to call a full grown Black man the N-word, although you'll hear Black men call each other boy, the same way you'll hear Black people call each other the N-word.
