@mrcompletely @fogelnet @rickscully it is indeed her new band! Their 2nd show.
Multidimensional being. Surprisingly realistic. Bridging melody & rhythm. If you get confused, listen to the music play.
@mrcompletely @fogelnet @rickscully it is indeed her new band! Their 2nd show.
@fogelnet It’s gonna be a blast, it’ll also be my first time back there since the ‘85 Dead shows. @rickscully Great venue for your first shows. @mrcompletely Is she already out playing with her new band? I was hoping to see them at the Mercury Lounge in NYC later this month but haven’t found a ticket yet (☝️). Maybe she got booked for this festival before announcing the new band, and they committed the artwork using Golden Highway.
If you're in or around the Philadelphia area tonight, come by the Dawson Street Pub in Manayunk for a night of local live original music. I'll be playing with Stackabones after an opening set by Kicking Down Doors. 🎶🎵🎼
See you there?
Great pix @Jefe, thanks for sharing.
Today is the 101st arrival date of Sun Ra Arkestra Director Maestro Legend Marshall Belford Allen - 25th may 1924 Happy Birthday with space age celebrations
@Conville Damn, I must’ve been right behind you… I was also right in front of Metzger, maybe 4 people back from the rail.
@Conville CJ, I missed you there last night, where were you hanging? Great show!
Echoing the sentiments of others, the Yo La Tengo show at Bowery Ballroom last night was awesome. Had a good spot down front, luckily without a chomper in earshot.
I'm currently at the South Jersey shore & noticed Melvin Seals & JGB was playing last night at the Tropicana in Atlantic City, 10 minutes away. I went to see if I could get a cheap ticket & ended up with a miracle! At first, it felt more like an AARP convention than a Jerry cover show, but once the music started, the heads got up and seriously boogied down. Fun night! The sound was absolutely fantastic & the venue was only 3/5 full so lots of room to move around & dance. #MelvinSeals
Saw LaMP for the first time last night at the Ardmore Music Hall. Tight funky sound for a trio, Russ Lawton was incredibly solid on the kit, Ray Paczkowski expertly carried the bass while broadly texturing the grooves, and Scott Metzger manifested a diverse range of melodies & rhythms — it was great to see him in a different context. The crowd was enthused.
Fun night seeing David Gans and the Broken Angels perform last night at The Bitter End. @dgans & @jasonisaacdrums, great to see you both play.

Great performance by Brock, Lanzetti, Ogawa of Snarky Puppy last night in Philly. Show was at the Black Squirrel Club, a sweet performing arts space in Fishtown. Their jazzy groove originals spanned a diverse mix of time signatures and rhythmic complexities, all of them captivating.
Saw The California Honeydrops at Brooklyn Bowl Philly last Sunday night. As always, it was a groovy ass-shakin’ good time, these guys always bring it! #LiveMusic #Philadelphia #NeoSoul
Recently seen in the wild. I highly advise anyone inclined to get all horny for #BMFS to do just that.
Live art
Spent yesterday at the Music is Art Festival at Buffalo's Outer Harbor. Awesome time, over 200 acts across over 15 stages & lots of live art, all for free. Music is Art is a non-profit started by Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac to support live music in Western NY. I was impressed with the degree of diversity in both the music & attendees. It was also great to see a friend's band, Pimp Slap the Atmosphere, play a reunion set after a 25-year hiatus. #LiveMusic
JRAD at Pier 17
Goose at SPAC
Saw my 1st live #Goose show Friday at SPAC. Enjoyed the show but was not blown away. Cotter's drumming is outstanding, probably the most impressive part of their performance. I kept wishing for more diversity in their jams, too much similarity. The sound in the pavilion was disappointing, too muddy even right next to the soundboard.
By contrast #JRAD at Pier 17 Saturday was exponentially more fun, great crowd & awesome music. And more Metzger than expected given commentary on Friday's show.
What a couple of super fun Billy Strings shows this weekend at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley CA on the 35th anniversary of the Grateful Dead's last run there! The Greek is such an incredible venue, there's something uniquely special about how the sound reverberates in that bowl. The audience clearly had a Bay Area vibe, which differs from shows back East. So awesome to be back in that place. #BMFS #sfba #LiveMusic
