Chozari 賈 (she/her)

I studied psych & counselling for 10yrs aiming to be a helper with registration as a psychologist, but because of the current landscape in Australia for even top-scoring grads seeking entry into a Master of Clinical Psychology - and the amazing wins I’ve had as an advocate for my son in law - I will now be pivoting to professional practice in law. This is gonna get WEIRD.

Will talk plants & animals with anyone.
Eager to learn from experts from any field at all. 🥰

@onekind Hahahahaha…. reminds me of the time I saw Lithgvegas City Council do a post that said, “I wanna dance to Rump Shaker!”

Most exciting thing they’d said in decades.

@ajsadauskas it was good when I worked there… haha! Its salad days are long gone, sadly. See what I did there? You took very nice shots of the river, too! I used to wag school to sit where you were sitting, so that I could read my English novel in peace. 😂 Thanks for visiting my home.

@stufromoz my landlord fixed it! YAAAAAY! I got back and my daughters were standing at the door holding a cake full of lit candles singing happy birthday! OMG! They’ve NEVER done anything like this.

@dropbear THANK YOU! I got back and when I got to the front door they were standing there with a birthday cake they made for me, with all the candles alight, singing happy birthday! I was too tired from carrying four bags of groceries up the steps to blow them all out in one go, though. Missed four of them. I’m fired.

@TheBicyclist “These might be called ‘feet’ but I don’t exactly have the opposable forefingers and thumbs to purchase my ticket online and what would I even purchase, man? A ‘seat’? Where? H Reserve, for preloved disgruntled furniture? What’s more, I lack the Disneyite flexibility to be able to leave the house unassisted and can’t exactly fit through the door of a bus. Who do you think I am, dude? Armoire the Wardrobe? Get outta here.”

@onekind @stufromoz Bless the Italians and Maltese who built those old Sydney houses that were about living life. And by living life I mean making food together. And by making food together I mean eating. Yeah nah screw the rest of the family. Just the eating part is what matters. Also, making two courses at once and not having to wash as I go to make enough room, coz I wanna just cook and pretend the dishes aren’t a thing.

@SeaFury They got off the boat at Werlermerler in 1950, and stayed in Wenty til… sheesh… um… good question. I’d have to go to Dad’s video to remind myself how long they were at the Wenty house. I’ve gotta drive now but I’ll watch his video later on and let you know if he tells us which year they bought the house on Boundary Street in Roseville. Wish I could afford to buy it back for the family. Not a chance. I can’t live there anyway. Too much city for me! vimeo.com/222845894?share=copy

@SeaFury 100%, & with no talk of “post traumatic stress” or any such thing. In my Nainai’s case it was just a deep relief she could be here living in Wenty, then Roseville, growing veggies ALL YEAR ROUND! NO SNOW! 😂 I wish so much she’d lived long enough to hold me. Even if just for a year. But not many get to live a long life after that sort of thing. Even with all the famine-free food in the world. What our parents must’ve thought of Australia’s abundance! Dad hoarded food til the day he died.

@SeaFury soldiers were murdering locals right in front of our house, in the street. I won’t describe the graphic details; I’m sure you know exactly how they killed all those civilians & how indiscriminate it was. But Dad just couldn’t ever make sense of that weird display of morality, up against the horrors he witnessed firsthand by the same soldiers not long after those seemingly innocent encounters where the Japanese soldiers seemed so able to view him (& the rest of our village) as …human.

@SeaFury Yeah I remember it all being very abstract too. He most often talked about the weirdness of having them be so embedded, then the betrayal. During the “friendly” time, he used to wave to the Japanese soldiers when they went past on trucks. One of them tossed him one of those paper balls one day. A bigger boy stole it from him. The soldier told the driver to stop. He jumped off & ran to the boy, hit him across the back of the head, took the ball & gave it back to Dad. Nekminnit - the same

@SeaFury Down there you might have to grow it inside with those cold Strait winds. Did your dad tell you lots of tales of China, with the north/south rivalry? 😂 Sometimes I don’t know how much of Dad’s stories were widespread lore, or if my dad was just.. DAD. He used to say the people from the southern provinces always saw us as big-nosed tall folk who stink of shallot-breath. 😂 He used to love a plate of shallots, chopped capsicum, and a dish of bean paste to dip them in before dinner.

@SeaFury I should get back into growing some ginger. Nothing like the taste of homegrown ginger… and garlic. I’m watching my garlic grow with such excitement… it’s so strong when I grow it at home. Dad always smelled like garlic. To this day if I walk past a Chinese, Korean or Indian granddad and I smell that garlic smell it doesn’t gross me out… it just smells like my father and makes me miss him. Haha!

@onekind Oh bless. 🥰 I was a bit worried 24hrs ago or thereabouts that it might be time to go in and get them to put me on high-flow oxygen, but I think MAYBE I’m over the hump, now.
