Librarian by day, archivist by night. Often found queerying librarianship, life, the universe and everything.

@Trishh I can't find photos of libraries ๐Ÿ˜ญ but I've been thinking about how a trip to Iceland (including a few libraries) in 2012 is part of what inspired me to start studying to be a librarian less than a year later while reading Always Home, Always Homesick by Hannah Kent. A formative and magical place for writers and librarians alike! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ“šโœจ๏ธ

@saera true ๐Ÿคฉ

@saera I was so sad when his screen wasn't working for ages and he didn't get to show us his maps/numbers๐Ÿฅบ

nothing like a day of EndNote Angst๐Ÿ˜ญ to remind you how good Zotero is ๐Ÿ˜
UniMelb library folks have made some great resources in case I know anyone who hasn't already made the switch ๐Ÿ™Œ library.unimelb.edu.au/recite/

starting the Easter long weekend with the phrase "rail equipment fault" ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ด

@Heather of course! it's also partly inspired by Deakin's inagural university librarian, Margaret Cameron, who was very into birds and also resources sharing and unions ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ“šโœŠ๏ธ

@Heather there are a few critical voices in the library and beyondโœŠ๏ธ but not that many super visible ones... I've been thinking about starting a 'Assorted Ibises' newsletter with or reading group for sharing critical library and higher ed sector tech resources and reflections (including impact on environment) inspired by my favourite meme ๐ŸฆโœŠ๏ธ

a meme saying Hell yeah I'm into AI : Assorted Ibises with images of different kinds of Ibises

@kristina @lavaeolus having learnt EndNote first, I do find myself getting tripped up by how relatively simple it is to do certain things in Zotero in comparison ๐Ÿ˜…

@kristina @lavaeolus I like to say I know enough about EndNote not to use or recommend it and to use and recommend Zotero instead ๐Ÿ˜ŽโœŠ๏ธ EndNote is sadly the only one that's been officially 'supported' in institutions I've worked at but I have been known to argue that Zotero doesn't generally require as much support to use! I've seen and heard far too many EndNote horror stories! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Train replacement bus fun...
Took two hours to get to work yesterday and two hours to get home ๐Ÿ˜ด
Left a little later this morning and I've arrived earlier ๐Ÿ™ƒ
I think something similar might have happened last train replacement bus time ๐Ÿซ

@kristina I reckon I'm pretty jazzed about citation and I love helping others realise why it is FUNdamental to research and study - which means focussing on who you're citing and why/context rather than dwelling on correct commas, italics, full stops etc! no one should ever lose marks for "incorrect" referencing punctuation/formtatting as long as it's clear where the info has come from / who is being cited

"I definitely can't provide as much advice about shoes as I can about news" - me after waking up to a message from dad looking for advice on news sources that provide an alternative to increasingly racist, Zionist mainstream media AND on where to buy affordable fancy shoes for a wedding. I responded passionately to the former ๐Ÿค“โœŠ๏ธ

@paulkidd impressive! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ’ปโœŠ๏ธ

hoping to visit this blooming corpse plant in real life before work today. it's been an exciting time to be working in geelong ๐Ÿค“๐ŸŒน๐ŸงŸโ€โ™‚๏ธ
