@amin and you are the adult responsible in all this?! 🤔

2025-05-23

@amin it’s hard to blog when you’re working 🤣

2025-05-23

@amin no problem, less noise is always nice.

@sunarch general rule of thumb: If you don't pay for a product, you are the product.

Little write up on my latest 11ty starter template called journa11ty.

@sunarch oh what a feature for sure!

@thedoctor @libreivan @rl_dane @amin

It's not perfect, but the netcat can handle some of this:

while true; do echo -e "HTTP/1.1 200 OK\r\nContent-Type: text/html\r\n\r\n" | cat - my_file.html  | nc -l -p 8080; done

@thedoctor @libreivan @rl_dane @amin I mean, can't you write a bash script that starts up a local host serve spot - kinda like python -m http.server but more bash than using python?

I do this in PowerShell: https://claytonerrington.com/blog/simple-http-server/

Sorry Microsoft, upgrading to Windows 11 is not a Feature Update...

Windows Update history screenshot showing the "Feature update" to Windows 11, version 23H2 from Windows 10.

@rl_dane @sotolf @amin @thedoctor these boards are awesome and a lot of fun. They use a form for magnetism to store the drawing from the pressure to imprint the object and the erasure is a magnetic reset.

@amin @tripplehelix @dusnm @sotolf @rl_dane @thedoctor Time is a measurement not an object. You measure time based on a standard set of elapsed subsections of the same measurement to get a final total.

The quantity of time is a man made element to explain the difference of past, present, and future, which is also rooted in the same measurement of time.

@dusnm @tripplehelix @amin @sotolf @rl_dane @thedoctor But at what costs? They still can make them and have larger capacities. For me its more about brand at that point to trust a 2TB micro disk wont flash itself upon first use. Some of these storage items are expensive still.

@amin @tripplehelix @dusnm @sotolf @rl_dane @thedoctor Ants? it used to be mice, right?

2025-05-19

@dmoonfire I showed up to the office... does that count as well?

2025-05-19

@tripplehelix they sure were. the vacuum seal on the casing was tighter than the screws though. Still fun to have that experience and teaching what I love and love to do to old hard drives. I made a Christmas tree out of the platters once. That was a lot of bad hard drives that would have otherwise been destroyed.

@amin @dusnm @tripplehelix @sotolf @rl_dane @thedoctor the MiniDisc was so cool! Also the 90s were a great era for technology. So many radical advancements every 6 months to out-do the next new tech thing. It really does feel like the innovation of tech like this has declined since then.

2025-05-19

@amin Looks like he did and it took off!

@thedoctor @rl_dane

@tripplehelix this time was mostly learning about how a hard drive works. I’m sure the next one will be more fun.

Still getting to take things apart is half the fun anyway!
