If you get an email purporting to be from Meta with "someone tried to reset your password, here's a code", it is very hard to spot phishing fakery. Looks completely legit, even down to the "who is" info. Don't click any links in emails for resets. Even supposedly legit ones.
@kym ill neveerrrrr tell lol
@GrahamDowns haha I'm super petty but I own it.
@jolantruchng sooon sooon hopefully
@jolantruchng O.o
Just so you can know the level of pettiness i can reach, I have certain Famous People blocked on social media because their opinions on figure skating are wrong.
@helengrantsays yeah, this may be just space to sort out all the other stuff :D
@jolantruchng those are good things <3
@davegoodman yeah I know logically that I need to refill the well, it's just shaking that 'but now you're doing nothing' feeling. :P
Need a reset button for the brain cell.
@jolantruchng yup, all the wells, lol
@helengrantsays I do walk every day, I think this needs a longer step back just to let my head settle? idk
I feel like I should be writing, but my head is a dead zone with nothing in it but static.
Tbf to me, this year I have written the first draft of one novel, and edited three others. I also wrote two short stories, which is pretty good going as I never write shorts anymore.
Maybe a break?
@starbreaker Oh I know I'm under no obligation to like what I don't like simply because they're popular. I merely sometimes wonder what I'm missing in those stories that others are seeing. *shrug*
You can do all kinds of weird shit with short stories if you have the skill.
Frex, I think these are incredible pieces of writing - a short by JG Ballard and some flash pieces by K-Ming Chang - very different in style and tone:
I often struggle with a lot of short fiction that does nothing for me (but is clearly doing it for other people, winning awards etc).
I'm not sure if I'm just picky af, or difficult. Generally, though, i notice that I like stuff where I know I can trust the author's voice, where it feels like every word is intentional.
Short story writing shares more with poetry than it does novels.
