I like making games. I don't like finishing them.

@sinbad It's honestly disgusting. It costs them practically nothing, and worse, they actually get paid for this disservice.

I've let my dev subscription lapse (again) so my stuff isn't currently available on iOS, which really hurts. I love(d) the iOS gaming world, and iPhone and iPad are still my choice of phone and tablet because there's simply no real competition for me, but I constantly ask myself why I bother when Apple does not give a shit.

New iOS app release is waiting for Apple review! It adds a community timeline and fixes sign-up errors not being shown and servers being listed in the wrong order during onboarding.

2022-04-28

@gerowen I can’t get the local/fed timelines in either of the iOS apps I’m testing (not including the official one, which as you’ve discovered does not show timelines by design) when I’m actually on my .social account. It displays fine here though. I assume it’s just the massive load over the past couple of days.

Almost too many people here now to keep the local timeline readable in one go 😅

@opponent019 autocorrect intercepted cybre.space before I noticed, sorry

2022-04-27

@opponent019 on the web, it’s easy enough as long as the instance supports it - eg mastodon.art/public works, while cyber.space/public doesn’t (both instances have /explore turned on tho to view a list of users)

In-app tho.. Toot! on iOS apparently does it, but if it just pulls from /public it’s still going to depend on whether the instance allows it.

@aras ah, guess I just wasn’t paying attention then. Thanks.

2022-04-27

@jorgenpt the official one doesn’t expose the local and federated timelines, so I really can’t recommend it to people. I’m using tooot right now, but I may buy Toot!

2022-04-26

I wasn’t really paying attention yesterday when I logged in but I’m trying a new mobile client and noticed there are about 5k users here now. I could have sworn it was like 1k yesterday. Got stats, @aras ?

2022-04-26

@_benui oh yeah, it’s not like the Mastodon functionality has changed or anything, it’s just a specific design decision for the official app. It’s clearly aimed at your normal mobile Twitter user - instead of showing you the whole local feed, it comes up with a view of trending posts and also has another tab for suggested users to follow. That’s not how I (want to) use masto though so I’m trying different clients - if I don’t have a good mobile app I just won’t engage as much.

2022-04-26

@TomF congrats, you have now completed the tutorial and are ready for the real masto to begin

2022-04-26

@_benui yes, which is why it’s so troubling that the official mobile apps have removed this view. I get that it’s practically useless for .social but the local feed is the whole beauty of small masto instances to me

2022-04-26

@sinbad me too but also it’s in a bit of a weird state. I don’t think the official app is the best way to use Mastodon so when my fave stopped working (Amaroq) I just kinda.. stopped using masto.

@maksu (almost 3 months later)

..yes

Huh. Sure has been a while since I posted here.

Coincidentally, it sure has been a while since I had the motivation to do ANYTHING AT ALL.
