@simon What is OpenAI’s most up-to-date cutoff? Is it still October 2023?
@simon Are any of the other frontier models doing nearly as well with bounding boxes? OpenAI Operator and Anthropic Computer Use make me think they should be able to get bounding boxes for UI elements, but I’ve been unable to get good results via API. Gemini, by contrast, does a great job—even prior to 2.5, which I haven’t gotten to try yet.
@mat @cotyrosenblath I can’t reply directly from Threads, but can you compare U.S. and German citizenship requirements circa 1989 when this speech was made? I think that might illuminate the quote.
@simon Are you able to get image coordinates from the Claude chat interface? I've had it tell me "Looking at the image, I cannot determine the exact pixel coordinates of the login button from the static screenshot alone." I haven't gone to API yet.

“Getting sidetracked to build a needed tool is now just a quick pull over into a rest stop instead of the 200 mile detour it used to be.” - love this, it’s a great way of capturing why I’m enjoying LLM-assisted development so much https://mastodon.social/@chrsstrm/113268185564210149
Hi all. I am co-organizing a Summit on Responsible Computing, AI, and Society at @GeorgiaTech Oct 28-30. We will actively discuss the future of human-centered AI, healthcare, sustainability, and tech policy.
You should come.
When the signal came, there was nothing subtle about it: every radio telescope on the planet redlined. First primes, then simple arithmetic, then basic vocabulary, each burst richer than the one before.
Finally humanity received the most complex message yet. Thousands of researchers and ad hoc internet communities raced to decode it.
"Are you crabs yet?"
Hesitantly, humanity replied, "No."
"Oh," came the reply. "Sorry to bother you."
Silence followed.
@davidgerard I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Torment Nexus, is in fact, GNU/Torment Nexus, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Torment Nexus.

@cotyrosenblath@threads.net Too bad Ivory doesn’t render the quoted post.
@ben.werdmuller@threads.net Hello from the other side.
@Sheril Not sure what I wouldn’t. I might start with economics, though, or maybe physics, or more math, or maybe Chinese…
How do we still have the vi/emacs debate when there are such obvious wins?
