@grim_elsewhere GOOD.

Please do reach out if you’re stuck on the #Rust part. The language is great just takes a brain wracking about of time to get your head around.

I get into a murderous fit of cringe every time an #audiobook voice actor changes their pitch when reading a the opposite gender in a non fiction book.

This would be the equivalant of putting cowboy hat and a pick up truck stickers beside every quote from an American.

@bamboombibbitybop Out of memory? I believe cargo had a jobs flag that limits the amount of crates compiled at a time. It’s good to know that it got that far tbh!

@bamboombibbitybop

I’m going to say 23 minutes.

@somecanuckchick

We couldn’t hack it in this city, because we have a dog. As an immigrant who’s always rented I’ve always felt this dual reality in Canada. The charter of rights and freedoms exist for all Canadian except renters.

Landlords can demand whatever the fuck they want of us. We’re treated like second class chattel. Fuck this system.

XKCD type cartoon, THE SELF HOSTER

Person 1:
It took all weekend, but now that I have a Mastodon
instance running in Docker behind a reverse proxy
with cloud-provided media storage, I can enjoy
interacting with a federated network of other users
without compromising on privacy or content moderation.

Person 2:
Cool, what kinds of topics does
your network discuss?

Person 3:
Our experiences self-hosting
Mastodon instances, mostly.

If you are in Ontario, in the Carelton riding....
Bruce Fanjoy is neck and neck with Poilievre!
If you don't want the trash-talking Conservative politician to be our next PM, get out on Monday and vote for Fanjoy 😀
And, if you are like me, you will get some joy out of Poilievre losing his own riding.

Here's what Bruce Fanjoy has to say:
I never imagined running for office. I’m not a career-politician. I’ve worked in marketing and business, I’ve been a stay-at-home-dad, I built a home in Manotick, I’ve been volunteering my time to make our community a better place for many years now, and I have a message for you, my fellow Canadian.

This election is the most important one of our lifetimes, and the race in Carleton is going to be very close. The Globe & Mail and the Toronto Star are reporting we’re in a dead heat with Pierre Poilievre, so if you’re wondering if your vote matters, let me tell you, it does.

I know you’re proud to be Canadian. So am I. And I firmly believe that the American-style politics that Pierre Poilievre loves have no place in Canada. That’s why I need your help.

I’m asking for your support to defeat Pierre Poilievre in this federal election, on Monday, April 28. Here in Carleton, 105,000 voters have a unique opportunity to send a message that we’re not interested in American-style politics in Canada. That we’re never going to be the 51st state. The whole country is watching us. Carleton, go vote to keep Canada Strong!

@javalps never mind, I got it. I just had to get to the link directly. I was copying and pasting it from my phone. I’ve got the files you can take it down now thank you!

2025-04-26

@javalps just getting to this, do you know what the password is?

2025-04-24

@javalps that is incredibly kind of you. Thank you so much I reached out as just a shot in the dark.

Do you happen to have a repo link that I could parues? It might make things a bit easier.

I understand if you’d rather stay anonymous, I can try to glean the info from the screen shot. I’m not sure if there’s a private way of sending a link to someone.

Does anyone have a good guide to creating a #neovim configuration with rustacean-nvim that gives me inlay hints? I’m at a loss as to why my configuration is not working.

@pjf

A tale as old as *checks notes* the Roman empire. Hopefully no one was executed for inventing it that time.

« an inventor brought a drinking bowl to the Roman emperor Tiberius made of vitrum flexile … which did not shatter but merely dented. Tiberius asked if anyone else was aware of the invention. When the inventor replied that he was the only person who knew the secret, Tiberius had him killed. »

I just saw the movie #Flow, it was incredible. I can’t believe it was made in #blender. I thought I would donate to #Blender while I was at it.

Man #OpenSource is killing it right now.

@logosity probably the coolest crate out there. If you set it up correctly, you can basically do away with exceptions in your code base. Just «? » everything. Makes programming in rust faster too.

I can basically assume that these hold true in any of my crates:

# cfg[deny(clippy::unwrap_used)]
