@oppen Iโm like 96% sure you already know this, but just in case: the playMIDINote functions allow fractional note numbers
Been making you a Playdate at Panic for the last 12 years. Just another Ned Telson wannabe

@dwineman @monkeydom Ah! Iโd only read that he was closing the studio, didnโt know he was replacing it with something even bigger. Great news!
Also thereโs a high school English teacher who explains that every single thing that happens is a metaphor
I so want a faithful dramatization of Moby Dick, where itโs mostly about the history of whaling and cetacean biology and taxonomy (though maybe update that with modern science) plus lots of random tangents, and thereโs a fairly ludicrous through story about a mad captain persecuting a whale
@patc Portland Maine, surely
@monkeydom I got my moneyโs worth from the incredible job he did on the datasheets. I donโt think I played the actual game for more than an hour
I performed the ritual Fatherโs Day Mowing of the Lawn to reestablish dominance of the Patriarchy over the Grasses.
Man I canโt wait until we turn it into a wildflower garden
I bolted the plotter to the table instead of using c clamps and itโs working much better. No idea what was happening there, not going to worry about it
Oh interesting! I put double-sided tape in there and itโs so tight I canโt get the pen out. And it /still/ drifted off the paper at the same rate. Guess the problem is somewhere else ๐ค
I think I need to tighten my pen holder
My plotter is working betterโbut not perfectly, which is kind of great. I added a depth adjustment to account for the balance shifting when the arm comes across, but the pen servo doesnโt have enough resolution to make it smooth. That causes a lot of subtle variation, much more interesting than if it were super precise
@incanus I've tried the keyboard shortcut to try and get it out of this state, no luck. It sounds like it might be related to full screen mode? https://stackoverflow.com/questions/70755301/how-to-disable-automatically-showing-the-inspector-window-in-xcode-13 But it _doesn't_ do that when I'm in full-screen. Tried every combination of entering and exiting full screen with the inspector panel open/closed, no luck.
I'll file a radar, I'm sure Apple will get right back to me ๐๐คฃ๐ญ
@denisburgerjr It doesn't seem to be an Xcode pref I accidentally turned on.. I've put up with it for so long but somehow this morning it hit the boiling point ๐
I moved ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dt.Xcode.plist aside, no difference. Created a new account, does it there too. I'm *not* going to live like an animal and leave the inspector sidebar open all the time.. am I?
Help me Mastodon, you're my only hope. Xcode does this thing where if I take just a bit too long to move the mouse when I'm about to scroll it'll "helpfully" bring the inspector split over so I can drag it open. I can't take it any more. I'm a broken man. I'm even willing to try VS over this, it's so bad. ๐ Does anyone know how to turn it off?
@oppen Happy birthday to you and Prince and Tom Jones and Bear Grylls and I forget who else :) (also me)

@patc I learned what starter capacitors are for recently and now Iโm kinda rooting for ours to go out so I can diy it
@chickenwing Thank you for joining the experience! It's been an incredible honor to be involved with this project, and I know I'm not the only one who's been working crazy hours to get it out. Seeing the reaction it's getting absolutely makes up for the lost sleep. :)
Getting the networking and video playback working for this completely consumed the last five months of my life. We bought a house and moved in the middle of it and it felt like a vacation. Definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done.
But I do think it was worth it to be able to share these weird transmissions we discovered, to know we're not alone in the universe.
