Tonight's review for KQED.
City Lights Thursday Night Ibsenish
@bear88yaya - I think that has been the general consensus on this show, especially from the reviewers I read normally. Many of us fell in the "good but not great, many missed opportunities" camp. They'll need to tighten up some stuff before it gets to Broadway for sure. And yes, second act is certainly a better, more tightly written offering. As always, thank you for reading!
Hippest Trip is quite hip. My review for KQED, runs through 10/8 #hellatheatre https://www.kqed.org/arts/13934433/soul-train-musical-review-hippest-trip-san-francisco
First time seeing a show in #Marin, quite a trek from #SanJose. #Mamlet at Marin Shakes. #hellatheatre
This is terrific. Go!
There are only a few days left to catch #Othello at San Jose Stage, featuring a stellar cast which includes South Bay institution Aldo Billingslea in the title role. Through June 25. My review for the @mercnews #hellatheatre https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/06/16/review-othello-pulls-no-punches-at-san-jose-stage/?fbclid=IwAR0B3qNHqBLEwK3j1WV8BPFEIzoxe3_G3vKJaocF7sfr6I7bwBWZR5C_Oak
While I had some qualms with aspects of #SteelMagnolias at TheatreWorks SV, the six-person cast is universally terrific. My review of the show for the
@mercnews, running through July 2 in Mountain View. #hellatheatre https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/06/13/review-theatreworks-delivers-a-mostly-worthy-steel-magnolias/
"The piece regales in its commitment to Treviño Orta’s lyrical language, loaded with mythical poetry, which is quite nourishing for the soul." My review of #TheRiverBride at City Lights for the @mercnews, thru 6/11. #hellatheatre https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/06/03/review-river-bride-at-city-lights-theater-digs-deep-into-amazonian-folklore/
@wallacewords @adamgreenfield - Yet another word I must fit into a review someday!
My fraidy cat journey rounded out with the terrific production of #LetTheRightOneIn at Berkeley Rep. The show's magic and storyline are stunning. Jumped a few times, not gonna lie. What a great group to steward. An honor of a lifetime.
@bear88yaya - LOL, not even close! Just fortunate to be asked to serve and then asked back this year. Very strange to see the show in Berkeley, because I wanted to scream the big secret to everyone! Even avoided the director who wanted to get together and chat. Crazy ride!
So proud to have served as jury chair for this year's #Pulitzer prize for Drama. Congratulations to the winner and both finalists! https://www.pulitzer.org/winners/sanaz-toossi
This is the kind of show that I love watching. It’s really sad to me that it will be one of the last appearances of Heklina though.

It's quite clear that when you arrive at 2nd and San Carlos, then go into the familiar theatre 3 at 3Below, the company has put a lot of stock into the spectacle of #NatashaPierre. My review for the
@mercnews, show runs through May 28. #hellatheatre https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/04/26/review-natasha-pierre-soars-to-life-at-san-jose-playhouse/
