🍿 Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, 2025 - ★★★½
First half is a light 3/5. Second half is a strong 4/5.
The recurring theme is fate. “It is written,” says the malevolent AI as it describes what Ethan Hunt must do next. And like an effective autocomplete, the tropes of series line up just like they always have. Ethan Hunt will stop the ticking time bomb. Ethan Hunt will hang precariously over dizzying heights. Someone will stare just off camera and say, “He did it… the sonuvabitch did it…”
And really, is that such a terrible thing?
Our theater was plagued by playback issues throughout. However, this did result in a Singin’ in the Rain style A/V sync issue where Haley Atwell had Greg Tarzan Davis’s voice and vice versa. Biggest laughs of the night!
