But I can't imagine trying to recreate my network here ... waiting to see to which platform everyone goes ... if it all goes to hell in a handbasket :-) 🤞

What kind of bot is scraping the url off my mastodon profile and doing this?

I put a link in my Mastodon profile to a site I didn't realise had a limited number of accesses. Oh, no matter, few people will ... what? I'm over my limit of 1000 accesses? 1000!? That seems unlikely, I only signed up this morning. :-(

@sandyman I had a lot of trouble uploading images today, persistence paid off. Seems mastodon is overloaded today (hmm. Wonder why? :-P )

@jeremy_data I guess my question is: when I reply, should I *also* boost if I want to give it more visibility?

A tip someone passed along earlier that is worth repeating. Discoverability on mastodon is improved when you boost posts rather than just favoriting them. Unlike the :dumpsterfire: bird site, mastodon does not show in my feed the things you favorite. So boost the stuff you like! Tags also help discoverability! #twittermigration #tips

@jeremy_data Q: what's the difference in effect between boosting and replying? Are they the same, but on a reply I add text?

@jeremy_data I like the distinction between "like" and "boost". I was appalled when I discovered my likes were showing up in others' feeds.

(I use smartphone, so not a lot of screen realestate ... but my twitter app manages it. I'll try :-)

@thegibson nope. I used third-party mobile clients: no ads, posts always sorted by date-time.
I never viewed my timeline, only accounts I curated onto my own lists. And search.
Finding it really hard to do most of that here, not sure it will work for me :-(
