My open-source roots are Linux/BSD + Postgres/MySQL, but I’ve spent years ranting (lovingly!) about the Linux desktop + open-source Audio/Visual/Graphics tools.

Amazing projects — but they need better docs, better marketing, and easier onboarding.

@mackuba generally I would recommend Postgres although if you want 1000s of concurrent connections then MySQL (multi threaded instead of multi processor) might be a better choice

@lascapi well that is a good start! I'm a huge #postgresql / #postgres fan and just got back from #pgconfeu and a lot of people are moving off X onto either Linkedin and/or Mastodon.
