📝 Anthro red fox, orange fur with brown feet/hands/ears and white muzzle/chest/tail-tip. Shy, quiet, tinkers with computers, electronics, writing, and art. Slow to respond, autistic traits, strives for kindness. Legally an adult, kid at heart. Black Lives Matter.

For my first foray into custom stickers, my experience with Effses ( linktr.ee/effses ) as the artist and Bear & Beagle ( bearandbeagle.store ) as the place to print turned out wonderful. Friends recommended them to me, and I'd recommend onward.

On the left is an orange fox curled up under a weighted blanket. The blanket has the heart symbol for the Portal companion cube on it.

On the right is the same fox on his back, smiling, blushing, splayed out and pressed+indented against the canvas

[Art and caption by Effses - https://linktr.ee/effses ]Photo of many sticker prints using the custom artwork from this post (orange fox curled up under weighted blanket and fox sprawled out on back blushing and tail wagging).

To the left lays a thank-you note from Bear and Beagle store for having ordered, offering support, etc.

@binaryfox *bloop, bloop* *bloop*

(Or in my case, since I keep email notifications turned on, my email sender API usage going up…)

It may be unhealthy to watch numbers at length, but it can be really fun (or flustering) in the moment.

@Austin_Dern Especially helpful when you're in any number of forms that are difficult to sidestep, versus the safety of remote work. Though even a desk sculpture could look imposingly until getting a response…

@lightspill I'm reminded of @binaryfox 's high-precision and obscure time synchronization techniques - sometimes it's good to just do something because you can.

I'm not sure what qualifies for me - possibly haptics..? This DIY brand of it, versus a commercializable solution.

@binaryfox One might argue you've dressed your lower half with your tail - that black tip might as well be a scarf or such.

Looks great!

@volpeon The primary aspects of social network aside, especially with the image compression/crunching there…

I've seen at least a couple folks still also posting here just for the sake of higher-quality uploading.

@MtKanjon Overall this looks awesome, very well done! Clear, cute, detailed when needed, with a fun, friendly flair about everything.

This feels like a natural representation of the creature I met in VR :fox_happy:

New ref sheet! ✨
Thought it was time to refresh Grout, er... Kanjon's ref with something that more reflects my art today.

There's a simple ref, and an extended sheet with full markings, colors, clothing, lore, tails, and even drawing ideas.

🖼️ Higher quality images in thread!

@foxyloon Yeah!

Aside, since it's been a while, you might have another reason for the stock OS - Google's Play Integrity API allows developers to restrict things on phones with unlocked bootloader, custom OS, etc.

E.g. Google Messages won't do RCS, Play Store won't allow installing apps like Netflix (you can probably sideload), no tap-and-pay with Google Wallet, AI Core won't load Gemini models (no Call Notes, etc), and various other apps may limit stuff.

Nothing essential for me so far, but it is annoying. Play Integrity API tightened things down May 2025, so you'll probably find info on bypasses that no longer work:
android-developers.googleblog.

@foxyloon And you've still got around 5.5 years of Android OS and security updates

@MtKanjon @RedstoneLP2 And you could do "fox‽" for full gremlin mode :3

@MtKanjon I guess part of that comes down to.. is "Grout" comprehensive of your own identity?

I used to not have a name at all, "digitalfox" was just a username (because I already had a legal name), but over time that's become my name and my character name - digital, digit, digi, digifox, digit-tall, gigifox…

I do think the parenthetical is fun - Grout (Kanjon) makes it sound like you have other modes. Sort of like "licks you (affectionate)" versus "licks you (teasing)."

@qdot Astepxual heavy blanket metal… or something?

(I don't know music genres nor sexual identities >.>)

@LumiaP2L @Tvorsk D'awww :fox_aww:

(Also we're both normal-sized, and it amuses me that means different things about both of us)

@Dreamline Boston (Size) Dynamics…

I'm sure it'll be fine, it's not a big deal :fox_x3: Glad you're still bringing macro/micro shenanigans about, too, you think of a lot of fun poses.

@ziphi Good luck!

I am hoping to build a sticker wall on the side of the kitchen fridge (or just a metal plate), and a friend advised me to get a "sticker notebook" with plastic so I could detach/move stickers as needed.

@ticky Tempted to get a Canadian flag to fly over here… And I'm even virtually made in Canada (via Razra's RazCanine avatar base).

I'm still figuring out how much I should mimic the style of folks I talk to, especially for text.

Capitalize the beginning of a sentence or not, periods, emoji or not (and ASCII faces vs UTF-8), formatting…

There are obvious extremes of copying someone completely, or inversely speaking like a formal research paper to someone trying to relax with low-effort sentence forming.

It's weird.

@Tvorsk ...I'm using BTRFS :fox_laugh_sweat:

But I set this server up on the same release (16.04) that Ubuntu first included the ZFS module in the their kernel natively, and I hadn't learned as much on ZFS vs BTRFS at the time. BTRFS "RAID1" hasn't caused problems so far, but I've been careful.

I might switch to ZFS in the future, especially if I wind up storing critical data rather than "would prefer to not lose this" data (archival, backup, sync).

@Tvorsk I might be misremembering, but the advice I recall from the 2.5 Admins podcast is.. ZFS needs less RAM than is typically claimed. It does put more RAM to good use, you get better performance, but it's not a hard requirement.

As to how much RAM ZFS needs/wants exactly to oversee 30 TB - @jimsalter - you might be interested in weighing in? (No obligation!)
