⚠️ Heads-up for mailcow admins:
OS upgrades may install Docker Compose 5.x, which mailcow can run with, but the update script won’t work unless refreshed once.

Fix:
Check your Compose version. If it shows 5.x, you’re affected.
In your mailcow directory: git fetch
Then: git checkout origin/master update.sh
Without this tasks , you can’t update mailcow unless you downgrade Compose to v2 which is harder than running these steps :)

If you still use compose v2 your good to go, simply run an update

Moohoo! Update 2025-10 has just been released:
mailcow.email/posts/2025/relea

This update addresses the critical CVE-2025-49844 affecting Redis.
While the exploit was not exposed in mailcow environments, updating is still strongly recommended.

Dear Community,

We’d like to share some updates about SOGo V6!
Earlier this year, we announced our goal of redesigning SOGo

What to expect with SOGo 6 ?
- A modern and intuitive user interface.
- A new administration console that replaces the configuration file.
- Practical features, such as scheduling emails or canceling a message a few seconds after sending.

For more details or to follow the project’s progress, visit the official SOGo website 👉 sogo.nu/news/2025/sogo-v6-sept

@mschuster Yes 🙌

mailcow now also validates MTA-STS when sending to domains that support it. DANE remains the preferred method if the destination domain is compatible.

2025-08-21

Starting with Update 2025-08: Configure MTA-STS directly in the mailcow UI. The required DNS records will be shown in the DNS checker tool too. #mailcow #teaser

Today we happy to confirm that mailcow is completely usable with Debian 13 🎉🎉

However, during upgrade you may stumble accross some pitfall: Exim.

For this, we wrote a guide:

You want to host mailcow on your own but do not know how? And you want to see the whole installation process prior before getting started? Then checkout the video from our community member Webnestify: youtube.com/watch?v=fgEWUsYPd9

Many thanks for the video! Highly recommended.

mailcow internal container updates (Bookworm (12) -> Trixie (13)) will follow at earliest by the end of this year, more likely during the first half of 2026.

2025-07-31

Though Debian 13 is mentioned to be released next week (August 9th (TBA)) we highly advise you to wait until upgrading your OS when running mailcow on it. Although we do not expect issues, please wait until official confirmation (following the week after the release).
