If we (millennials) would have spent half as much time reading books as we have reading reactionary, unrefined thoughts and opinions (fb posts, tweets, IG captions, and now toots) - we would be one of the most well-read, educated generations of all time.
Quick posts like this are great to get unfiltered thoughts down and are useful in other ways, but the lack of refinement and further investigation leads to a lot of shoddy, uneducated opinions circulating.
@cornett cheers! I’m on 11 and not looking back now
if you want to be your local chiropractor’s best friend, do some high rep, fatigued throwing of the barbell over your head after just learning how to #strengthtraining
most business advice comes filtered through media from the “top” execs.. whatever that means
this is fine, but most people looking for business advice need help with captivating their first 100 customers - not doing their first 100mil in sales
in business, I’ve found that fighting the temptation to offer more and just sticking to doing one thing really really fucking well has been a useful strategy
it also lets you get really good at that one thing, because you’ll probably suck a little bit at it at first - at least compared to where that thing is at the 1,5, and 10 year marks
relentlessly streamlined
keep it aggressively simple
decisions are great, especially when you let them be truly decided
worry accompanied by lack of any action that will make a difference is a great path to misery
If you have 1 hour, 2 days a week then you can get strong as fuck over time.
Can ethics survive in a secular world? I’d argue ethical living would begin to finally flourish.
@MetalheadDana 40mins is tough I feel no matter what. I honestly feel like I get the same benefit from 5-7mins as I do with longer sessions. It just feels way more doable and less intimidating, which probably leads to a better mindset going in
@joshwithouthats also, I usually only anchored 2 opposite corners out of 4. Once you get some heavy duty bolts into the concrete and feel it, you won’t feel the need to go all 4. It’s a little thing, but it was less holes in the concrete the better for me. We had teammates routinely squatting 500+ from them with no issues at all
@joshwithouthats it’s about 100x less of a pain to just bolt directly through the mat. I’ve known a few gym owners who insisted on bolting and then cutting around and I never understood why. We had ~ 15 racks at our peak and I did Concrete -> Mat -> Rack for all of them with no issues. Not a dumb question at all, people do it both ways so it’s super confusing
Practicing mindfulness while eating usually works out nicely for the first 5 minutes. Then I black out #GETINMYBELLY

@timsmalley dude, your shots are incredible. Thank you for sharing - as a complete newbie to photography and nothing but an instant camera and a point and shoot, I’m inspired.
