It is very hard to accept, but it is no longer safe to move EU governments & societies to US clouds. Not only is it dangerous to do so, it is also likely flat out illegal in the near future. We're trading convenience for utter dependence on a mad king. It should stop.

@djoerd dank!
#newjob I’m starting something new! I’ve joined the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam as an Assistant Professor, where I’ll be leading the newly established Artificial Intelligence for Open Government (AI for OpenGov) ICAI Lab. Back to academia, looking forward to this adventure! More deets: https://graus.nu/blog/newjob/
Fixed it
Finally, we list datasets, summarize the relevant legal landscape (w.r.t. regulations concerning algorithmic hiring in the EU and the US), and show practical considerations and examples for bias mitigation in practice (my main contribution to this paper).
Proud to be listed on this monumental work, thanks for leading it Alessandro Fabris!
In addition, our paper surveys bias measures (n=21) and mitigation strategies (n=12) that have been applied and studied specifically in the context of algorithmic hiring, which we present in unified notation.
Our survey brings together perspectives from computer science, law, and practitioners, to classify factors that contribute to bias in algorithmic hiring (spanning the complete hiring pipeline) into three families:
1. institutional biases
2. individual preferences
3. technology blindspots
Together with some researchers in the @findhr project, we have published the preprint of our multidisciplinary survey on fairness and bias in algorithmic hiring: https://graus.nu/publications/fairness-and-bias-in-algorithmic-hiring-a-multidisciplinary-survey-preprint-available/
Very much looking forward to organizing the 4th RecSys in HR workshop at #recsys2024! https://graus.nu/blog/the-4th-workshop-for-recsys-in-hr-at-recsys2024/
A big thank you to all the participants who joined us at the AI Cluster Conference, driving forward the movement towards #equitableAI. Together with @aequitasEU, @BIASProjectEU, and @mammoth_ai, we're making an impact. Also, thank you for joining us at the AIMMES Workshop on the 20th of March! We were delighted to witness a diverse range of insightful contributions. We look forward to welcoming you to future events and continuing our collaborative efforts to advance fairness in AI!

We're hiring! Apply and work at the Data Science group with Harrie Oosterhuis on search systems that learn from their users. #Vacancy
Happy to see our randstad position paper on #AI published! It contains some pointers to our work in ethical AI, including work with interns on bias mitigation, an internal audits of our recommender systems and involvement in the Horizon Europe project @findhr. Read it here:
