@amytabb oh, I have seen this as well. And many-many other auto-generated videos...
Marrying classical CV and Deep Learning. I do things, which work, rather than being novel, but not working.

We are launching Structured Semantic 3D Reconstruction (S23DR) Challenge at CVPR USM3D workshop on
HuggingFace.
Prizes:
1: $10,000
2: $7,000
3: $5,000
Deadline: June 4, 2024
Task: point cloud+segmentations+monodepth ->roof wireframe.
https://huggingface.co/spaces/usm3d/S23DR
That is "script" competition, which HF variant of "code competition".
Training dataset: 4k scenes, (hidden) test set is 1k.

Workshop page: https://usm3d.github.io
If you work with wireframes, give it a try!
@amytabb I am used to think of SLAM as online and SfM as offline. And SLAM can deal with videos by selecting keyframes, whereas SfM cannot really due to complexity explosion. So online SfM is kind of weird.
I am happy to announce that WE HAVE ONE MORE WORKSHOP at
CVPR
"Urban Scene Modeling: Where Vision Meets Photogrammetry and Graphics"
https://usm3d.github.io
Or "what useful thing you can do after SfM"
P.S. We will have 2(!) challenges with money, stay tuned.

@at Thank you, I think I missed it
New post in my WxBS blog: Experiments with LightGlue: geometry representation and initialization.
- Does it matter how you provide additional geometry info (scale, orientation for SIFT) to LightGlue?
- Can we tune existing LightGlue for new features?
@mattblaze It might be different in US, however in Czech Republic many PhD student DO first find a professor and arrange some internship, then both parties decide if want to proceed.
A formal application process only follows this.
@at ouch. Get better!
@at Ouch
@at oh, I somehow though that it a slang for the pencil/pen.
@at what is kami?
@at @eric_brachmann If I to suggest:
- get rid of "Today I read about ", they are repeating too much
- notes are the main thing, not italics, but maybe white on black?
- hide ".bib Abstract " ?
@at @eric_brachmann the source code is here https://github.com/ebrach/ebrach.github.io
@at I'd say twitter format for tl;dr, post format for something deeper.
E.g. @eric_brachmann made his publication list in the twitter format and that looks awesome!

@chjara Is that Apple sponsored joke?)
@at It has the pine needle/wood/oil taste/flavour. Pine nuts were inside as well, but they are different
@at >default reply
YES! I am far from your condition, but yes, my default response is "I am fine", which is not always the best one
@lichess Bird's Opening!
@at Actually I have eaten some pine ice-cream this vacation and it was good :)
@at kendo or iaido?
