@heiglandreas I find doing nothing to be nigh impossible. It brings on horrible bouts of guilt and shame, but I'm working on it. I hope you and all your loved ones are safe and you get a chance to relax. *hugs*

@stevegrunwell *lol* Not mad, but I also don't want you to be doomed. Just because you have a fun thing scheduled for next week doesn't mean you don't deserve one this week too. :)
@omerida Schedule it! Your drawings are awesome! You should see how many people up here in Madison are still wearing the Exploricon shirts you designed. <3
@Crell Love this! You have lucky friends. :)
@outofcontrol @heiglandreas Think of a memory that always makes you smile. What were you doing that day or in that moment? When is the last time you were really happy to tell someone about something? Or a time when you got to a space where you could actually take that deep breath in and out? Find those moments and repeat them. If you are still stuck, ask someone who loves you to help you. Others can often see things we need that we can't.
@derickr I love seeing your photos from your walks.
Ok folks, what are you doing to avoid burnout this week? Taking care of yourself is not selfish - it is a crucial survival skill.
@syntaxseed Ooooo! That looks amazing! I'd love to hear about your experience with it once you start playing with it.
And Roblox just changed the password on my account for me with no notice "for security reasons" and is now claiming that they have no way to verify that I am the owner of the account because I did not fill in the optional fields on their sign up form. They said that because of this, there is no way for me to get my account back and maybe I could try creating a new account and make sure to fill out all of the optional fields this time. This is infuriating.
Do I know anyone at SiteImprove? Their website's "request a demo" form is broken and that seems to be the only way to get a subscription. I've used their system before and would love to skip the required "quick" 45-minute demo with a sales person and just buy an account.
@preinheimer I agree. WordPress has been my go-to for over a decade for small companies and organizations who need something between a brochure page and an expensive custom site. With the demise of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are a communication lifeline for a lot of small businesses and organizations. There are not good alternatives at this time. However we progress from here, we need to make sure we have multiple choices that we support equally in our efforts.
@afilina @sean @derickr - I have also given up on sorting mail into separate folders. I went from ~24k emails in my Inbox to just over 5k. I'm hoping to keep shrinking that down as I am not slowed down by having to contemplate the best place to put each email. If I'm sure it is done, I move it into a Done folder, and Thunderbird's search can easily search one or multiple mailboxes for keywords and more. Not a perfect system, but significantly more efficient than the previous one.

Wrote down my thoughts on PHP Property Hooks added in 8.4 - ironically while I am a fan of the feature I think of it as a kind of insurance, you're best off if you don't need it at all - https://blog.naderman.de/2024/12/12/php-property-hooks-a-cost-of-change-insurance/

@ramsey @Saltssaltgirl I couldn't do a $50 gift card, but I ordered some Always pads and rainbow sticky notes off of their wishlist. They should be delivered tomorrow. <3
20 years ago today, Thunderbird hatched from its shell and spread its wings! To our incredible community of users, contributors, and supporters - thank you for helping us get here. We couldn’t have done it without you. Here’s to 20 more - and beyond!

I'm officially on the ballot for City Council in the April 2025 election! I've also started a new project to keep in touch with those who want to know about my adventures in local government. Check out:

@heiglandreas @ramsey It would be great to have a thriving community again. Feels like we have stepped so far back in time. People are scattered across so many communication platforms. User groups are hard to find. There are not many conferences left. It's hard to find anyone who does PHP programming. I know PHP has always had it's ups and downs and always has kept going, but this down feels harder to handle than previous ones.
@gunstick That is a good question. I do not use OneDrive so I am not very familiar with it, but it appears to work similarly to Dropbox where you install the OneDrive app, and then it creates a folder for you to use to sync the files between your computer and the OneDrive cloud. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/sync-files-with-onedrive-on-macos-d11b9f29-00bb-4172-be39-997da46f913f
@sean @preinheimer Or at least pretended to try to?
