@cryospheroid That reminds me of a story about a PhD student who was the instructor for an undergrad course. One of the students asked them how long they'd been studying the subject and they said 6 years. The reply "Oh, wow! So only 4 more years until you get your ten-year, right?"

@dredmorbius Right - in theory, ePub should offer the same navigation possibilities etc. as HTML. depends on the 'reader software', I suppose.

@dredmorbius Librera ( https://librera.mobi/ ) is also nice for Android, and has TTS capabilities.
(But I still haven't really found anything for desktop I like; I stick to PDFs or DJVUs there where possible. In a pinch, Zathura is okay for epubs.)

@dredmorbius I've heard some concerns along these lines before (thus the "horrors").
Koreader is great for reading epubs, but isn't designed for reading on desktop (there's an Appimage, and you *can* run on it desktop linux, but it's not a great experience). I pretty much only read epubs on eink readers or Android devices - Koreader is great on these.
