@zellyn that is decidedly inaccurate.
ok nerds. i cannot get any AI tool* to convert this image of a table to a CSV that contains information that is mostly accurate. can you?
*let us agree that we can get a non-AI tool to do this, but for this test we are limited to AI tools.
Your family didn’t have their name changed at Ellis Island. That is a myth.
The topic came up recently in conversation, so I figured it bears repeating for a wider audience. You can read more about the myth and the reality here: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smithsonian-institution/ask-smithsonian-did-ellis-island-officials-really-change-names-immigrants-180961544/
i saw a license plate today that read “MUSK HVE” and i cannot determine if it means MUSK HIVE (egregious) or MUSK HAVE (still 😬 but slightly less egregious). what say you?
somebody said google rented the inside and outside of the sphere (🤑🤑🤑) for cloud next, which makes me wonder how much money they spent on a marketing conference? also, how many layoffs will they need to do to cover the bill?
@migurski probably, depending on when
@theericajoy@threads.net is also me. :)
@susankayequinn @ericajoy @danilo it seems like you’re pretty convinced that republicans owning tiktok is the only plausible outcome here, which means there’s not a lot of point in me continuing this conversation. take good care!
@susankayequinn @ericajoy @danilo they aren’t banning it, they are (i believe) attempting to remove it from the control of a chinese comp bc chinese comps are believed to be beholden to/controlled by the chinese govt. (see: the tianamen/tibet fiasco)
repubs are being opportunistic as they always are, dems don’t have the villain spirit required to find a way to take advantage of every opportunity for their own gain or they’d be doing the same.
@susankayequinn @danilo i think they want to stop china from using it to control the flow of media a large swath of americans consume. as china already demonstrated willingness to use algorithmic manipulation of tiktok to control a narrative (see: tianamen and tibet), it is likely obvious that they could do the same for anything else. the idea of americans mainlining any narrative the chinese govt (or any foreign govt!) wants probably keeps some folks awake at night.
what short form text based social media platform are you using the most? (if none of the below, lmk in the comments?)
not enough people know that you can tell everyaction (basically the clearinghouse for dem voter data) to put your email address in their blocklist, thereby greatly reducing the amount of political email you get. maybe even stopping it completely.
be warned that you may stop getting the emails you want from your favorite politicians/candidates as well.
the hot pot on top of the stove where you put pots and pans while cooking is called what?

@jbqueru weight? travel friendly. target use is kinda replacing my D7000.
