Just quietly putting this out there before we start promoting this more widely. We have developed an innovative way to migrate a journal in less than a minute...if you want a forward peek let me know.
@kentbeck I mentioned you in an article on OSS and SDLC methods. perhaps of interest... https://www.robotscooking.com/exploring-development-methods-in-software-development/

Shhh....early release of CokoDocs website...site doesn't work well on mobile yet (early release!) https://cokodocs.net
@nemobis @MsPhelps @rschrobUK sure.
@nemobis @MsPhelps @rschrobUK actually my mistake currently 7 FTE. Forgot some partner devs
@nemobis @MsPhelps @rschrobUK 5 FTE soon to be increased but not sure by how many. Possibly up to 12
@MsPhelps @rschrobUK @nemobis not to mention Kotahi :)
@alexh @chartgerink never been great at PR :/
@chartgerink thanks! Yip. Would be open licensed and I'll provide source content for easy access. But also want to make the volumes in print and sell.
Pondering on writing a book...maybe actually 3 short volumes each containing a collection of essays. Volumes I'm pondering are : Publishing. Open Source. Community Building.
@timelfen @mike @kaveh1000 that would be AI
@timelfen @mike @kaveh1000 you have to accept the future is not what today looks like. At the same time you need to make decisions for today. And that means using HTML. JATS was the decision of many yesterdays. As for HTML as a prison - given how many folks have invested over and over again in transformation technologies - far greater for getting in and out of HTML than any format in history - its pretty hard to see HTML as a prison.
@mike @timelfen @kaveh1000 honestly I think semantics gets solved by AI and ML in the shortish term. Infact probably mostly already solved if we hadn't separated scholarly communications from the rest of the web.
@rowan @kaveh1000 @timelfen @mike try encapsulating a interactive element in JATS . JATS =paper
@rowan @kaveh1000 @timelfen @mike JATS is not great. It is required. There is a difference. It has cost the publishing industry a lot and stops the move forward to the web.
@mike @timelfen @kaveh1000 ha :) that kind of thing is only possible if you are using an html editor from 2007. Editors are cleaner these days and built to preserve source hygiene. Have a look at https://waxjs.net as an example
@mike @timelfen @kaveh1000 what sort of short cuts?
@timelfen @mike @kaveh1000 well...the two most recent of those examples are beyond the pdf and beyond xml. Both solutions are HTML. Sure one day we will have beyond html but first we have to have html and the benefits of it. That will take us a very long way into the future and towards massive costs savings, production efficiencies, and liberating science communication from the legacy 'paper' model.
