couple of things:

i've seen some people asking about midnight.dance! i made midnight as a small personal instance and i'm still feeling out how big i want it to be, so for right now invites are closed for the foreseeable future.

also, i want to apologize for the confusion with mass DMs from other mods. that's something i shouldve shut down, and it's on me. i invited some friends there, including the other mods, when i set it up. i've been all over the place and i wasn't clear enough that people shouldn't officially migrate until after we had cleared things up here. people got excited and sent those out without thinking and it caused a lot of stress for you all, and im sincerely sorry.

honestly this is something we shouldve done a while ago, like, a couple months ago, but we knew how important berries was to all of you so we did our best to keep it up as long as possible. the instance got too large for us to handle too fast, and when hazel left it was kind of a scramble for the rest of us to pick it back up and run something we weren't the ones to set up.
thank you all for sticking with us, and i'm sorry for the stress this is causing!

@norikawa we aren't set to shut it down in a week, we'll leave it up as long as necessary

@Laughwhilecrying It won't be for at least another week, and if people need more time we'll leave it up as long as they need!

To help make the move as smooth as possible, we'll keep the site up for a while longer, and there's a list of recommended instances in the attached doc. If you're interested in trying to set up your own instance, we highly recommend trying it out if you have the funds and a bit of coding experience! You're always welcome to ask one of us for help setting up, and Berries' rules, themes and blocklist are open source (linked in the doc as well).

We are sad to announce that in the next week or so, Berries will be closing down. Although this lines up with a lot of people moving, it's actually a decision we've been discussing internally for a while now, and one that we're making for our own mental health and time management.
We want to be clear that it's not because of/in response to recent drama; if anything, the impetus for this conversation was Gen's injury, and it led to all of us realizing that we just weren't in a place to run the site anymore, especially since others of us are also struggling with mental and physical health issues right now.

We're sorry for the confusion and stress today! We wanted to make sure we explained things as thoroughly as possible before we put out a statement.

The bugs happening right now aren't anything we're doing, they're because a lot of people are moving. Sending mass DMs and importing follows from a lot of people at once puts a strain on our CPU, so you'll be experiencing some errors and there unfortunately isn't that much we can do about it.
