I work for a Large Hosting Provider and for reasons I can't really disclose, we hard filtered some Known Bot Traffic for a short period of time at some point in the recent months.

The interesting part is that staring at graphs for the edge loadbalancers, you could tell __exactly__ when I toggled it, because there was a sharp drop.

And a staggering 30% of all traffic just vanished.

Thirty Percent on a Large Hosting Provider scale is absolutely bonkers.

This was during off-peak hours, but it's still way more than I expected.

The whole "the general internet is no longer for humans" thing is ringing truer and truer every day.

As of Drupal 10.3, the super user permissions automatically granted to user/1 are managed by the SuperUserPolicy.

To turn this policy off and restrict user/1, update your sites/{site}/settings.yml, but that's tedious so I created a SuperUserPolicy Drush command:

- drush super:on
- drush super:off
