Another chapter in the "Follies of Content Creation" I recorded the "a-roll" shots for my upcoming video.

2 of the 3 shots I was completely out of focus while the background was perfectly sharp.

Think I could start a new trend in video style? Reverse bokeh?

Help. I played 2 casual games of Magic with @sergeyager before LoadingReadyLive and now all I want to do is play more Magic. Help.

Downside to having your backlog of videos still out there is when randos fly in with comments like, “This is terrible. The lighting is so bad.”

I mean, of course it is. I filmed that video almost 2 years ago and had no idea what I was doing, Dave. But you go ahead and insult me if it makes you feel better.

Apologies for not being active here lately. Having a bit of rough go at the moment. We got a puppy last week. He’s adorable and a handful. But we’re working through it.

The part that is really rough is my 12 year old hound dog has been sick. Thought she was getting better this evening but was wrong. I’m hoping this is just stress of the new puppy and nothing more serious.

Been itching to act again. VO is wonderful but I would love to do on screen stuff. (Love the stage but don’t love the schedule.)

Trying to figure out if I can work in a low budget MTG comedy into my line up on the channel…

Due to family stuff I couldn’t record my news show on Thursday like normal. That meant I had to record, edit, do graphics, upload and release a full episode of FDS MTG News in one day.

Pretty proud of that.

Channel is popping off this week. In the last 24 hours I’ve had 27,000 views. Haven’t seen numbers like this since my “How NOT to teach MTG” video went viral 2 years ago.

It’s exciting and a bit terrifying. Like I’m about to skydive. Hoping everything continues to go well and praying my chute opens.

Tonight was fun. (I mean this literally AND sarcastically). Took the kids to a Winterfest. Had a great time. On the way home my car decided to gobble up range like mad.

Starting range: 180
Trip: 150

5 miles from home I had to pull into a Walmart parking lot because the car had hit zero range 10 miles prior.

Got the kids and wife a Lyft while I waited on a tow. Learned a valuable lesson tonight. If a round trip is 100 miles or more, plan to charge up. #ElectricVehicles #solterra

Every year I panic and think I dropped the ball on getting good gifts for my wife. Usually it’s worry over nothing.

This year it’s worse because the “big” gift (a custom built bookcase) won’t be finished until mid January. (Due to an unexpected car problem I couldn’t get the lumber in time and money got tight). So I have to wait to build it.

So I’m going overboard getting other stuff hoping to make up for it. I know she will understand but I still feel like crap about it.

Spent hours editing a file for a VO client. Finished it up and started to break it down for delivery.

Misclicked and closed the file. Brain short circuited not realizing what was happening and clicked “No” on the “Do you want to Save?” question.

I know, it’s my own fault. I’m just incredibly angry that Audition doesn’t auto-save like Premiere does. It makes no sense. (I don’t work with session files so the auto-save function is useless to me.)

Need to step away from the project for a bit.

@Fruan I would be disappointed if he hasn’t.

A green screen is arriving in the mail today. I am equally excited and concerned about the possibilities.

Having FDS MTG News with an actual set seems ideal, but it would be so much easier to have the set be digital.

I’ll be using it for a ton of ideas I have, but I’m waffling on using it for my main set too.

All will become clear after I get it set up. But I’m sure I will go through a ton of set up and trial and error in the process.
