do I know any infosec folks with experience in industrial systems who are looking for work?

one of the companies I interviewed at before accepting a job elsewhere has a big heap of industrial security assessment work upcoming, and not much in the way of internal resources to handle it, so there's an opportunity for either a contract or permanent role.

UK based, remote work, possibility of international contracting.

hit me up if you're looking and I'll pass on your details.

German politician Nico Semsrott has suggested that we give billionaires one year to solve the climate crisis. If they fail to do so, we should dispossess them. I think that’s a wonderful idea! It's never going to happen, but it's nice to dream.

I'm on the hunt for some Circuit Playground Express boards for a companion bot camp for tweens I'm teaching in July and the usual distributors are out of stock. Does anyone know a place that has them in stock or would be willing to donate some to our library makerspace? I'd hate to cancel it if we can't get the hardware in time. I've been hoping for places to restock and am subscribed to notifications but I know the industry is in a tough spot right now with tariffs and supply chain uncertainty.

@MLE_online without looking it up, I think there's another level of step between there. But my confidence level is v low

@rk @robdaemon my mom had those semi-randomly for years. She taught herself how to relax it after some experience. Hope you're well

@MLE_online Oh I wasn't thinking of those big fuck off ones just the stepped down block-level stuff

@MLE_online Are these around as a consequence of people 'recycling' copper power wires?

If consent matters to you, you have to be genuinely prepared to take no for an answer. And to respond graciously, so that person feels safe to say no the next time, too.

My kid just WhatsApped from his German exchange trip. They had to call an ambulance for him.

He has food poisoning, was very pale and nauseous. He was dehydrated and his blood pressure was dropping.

He's fine now but I wanted to share this because it has the most Western Europe Is a Civilized Place ending ever.

The paramedics came to the mall, took him into the ambulance, gave him an IV, checked him out, stayed with him until he felt better, then told him "No charge. Enjoy your trip to Germany." And if that wasn't enough, when they realized the group had had to move onto the train station without him, they gave him a ride over there to catch up with them.

I'm so ground down by the predatory realities of America in general in 2025 that this just about blew my fucking mind.

DOGE is just a "woodchipper" for firing people and destroying government.

This young man keeps trying to make actual software, but the only use DOGE has for him is as a fall guy to take the blame for firings.

When Sahil Lavingia "discovers" that government already has modernization efforts, and that in fact he was helping to fire the people doing that work, DOGE fires him.
